Our collections
A good electric bike changes how you move through the city — the commute gets faster and more fun, the hills disappear, and you arrive without the sweat. We stock a hand-picked range of premium e-bikes in our Richmond store with demo bikes you can actually ride, we're an authorised dealer for every brand we carry, and Frosty's in-house workshop handles assembly, servicing, parts and warranty 7 days. Buy from people who ride, build and repair these bikes — not a box-mover.
Why Buy Your E-Bike From Us
This is what separates a great e-bike experience from an expensive headache. An e-bike is a serious machine with a battery, motor and brakes that need to be assembled and maintained properly. We're an authorised Australian dealer for every brand we stock — genuine product, valid warranty, no grey-import risk. Every bike is professionally assembled and safety-checked in our workshop before it goes out the door (not flat-packed to your porch to figure out yourself). And when it needs a service, a part or a warranty repair, Frosty's in-house workshop handles it 7 days a week right here in Richmond. We hold stock and spares in Melbourne, and we've got demo bikes you can ride before you commit.
The Brands We Carry
- Super73: the cult Californian brand — retro-moto styling, huge community, premium build. We're the official Melbourne dealer.
- Fatboy: Australian-designed fat-tyre e-bikes — premium parts at a sharper price, built for our conditions.
- FlightRisk: performance fat-tyre e-bikes with full suspension and hydraulic brakes across the FR range.
- Amp'd Bros: Australian fat-tyre e-bikes — the Ace and Stubbie range, plus a kids' model, with serious spec.
How to Choose an Electric Bike
The right e-bike comes down to how and where you'll ride. The things that matter:
- Motor power: drives hill-climbing and acceleration. Note that motor power also determines road-legal status in Australia (see below) — we'll help you match power to your intended use.
- Battery & range: measured in watt-hours (Wh). Bigger battery, more range — but claimed figures are best-case, so expect less with hills, rider weight, throttle use and cold.
- Throttle vs pedal-assist: pedal-assist adds power as you pedal; a throttle drives the bike without pedalling. Throttle availability and legality depend on the model and your state.
- Brakes: hydraulic disc brakes are the premium standard — stronger, more reliable stopping, which matters on a heavier, faster bike.
- Tyres & suspension: fat tyres give grip and comfort across varied terrain; front or dual suspension smooths out rough ground.
Our How to Choose a Fat Tyre Electric Bike guide covers all of this in detail.
Australian Road Rules — Read This Before You Buy
This matters and we want you to get it right. In Australia, an e-bike is only road-legal as a bicycle if it meets specific power and control limits (generally 250W continuous, pedal-assist). Higher-powered models and unrestricted-throttle bikes are not legally bicycles and are intended for off-road and private-land use. Our range includes road-legal-compliant models as well as higher-powered off-road models — which one is right depends entirely on where and how you intend to ride. The rules vary by state and territory and do change. If you're not certain which bike is road-legal for your situation, talk to us before you buy — we'll make sure you walk away with the right one.
Battery Care & Safety
Look after the battery and a quality e-bike lasts for years. Charge with the supplied charger, avoid storing fully flat or fully charged for long periods, don't charge unattended overnight, and keep it out of extreme heat. Battery safety is exactly why buying genuine product from an authorised dealer with local support matters — cheap grey-import batteries are the ones that cause problems. If a battery ever shows warning signs, bring it to us.
Service, Assembly, Parts & Warranty
Every e-bike we sell is professionally assembled and safety-checked before pickup or dispatch, and backed by Frosty's in-house workshop for servicing, spare parts and warranty — 7 days a week in Richmond. See our electric board & bike service and repairs page for what we offer.
