Spitfire is the most ridden wheel in skateboarding — the bee-and-flame logo is everywhere for good reason. Their Formula Four urethane set the benchmark for speed, grip and flatspot resistance, and the brand's heritage runs as deep as it gets. At Twelve Board Store and SoCal Skates we carry the full Spitfire range, in stock and shipping free Australia-wide.
The Spitfire Story
Spitfire was founded in the early 1980s by Jim Thiebaud and Fausto Vitello as part of San Francisco's Deluxe / Thrasher family, and grew into the most iconic wheel brand in skating. The introduction of Formula Four urethane was a genuine leap forward — wheels that are fast, grippy and highly resistant to flatspotting — and it cemented Spitfire as the choice of pros and everyday skaters alike. The classic Spitfire logo is one of skating's most recognisable marks.
Choosing the Right Spitfire Wheels
Two things matter: diameter (mm) and hardness (durometer). Smaller wheels (50–53mm) are lighter and lower for technical street; mid (54–56mm) is the versatile all-round range; bigger (56mm+) carries speed for transition and rougher ground. On hardness, Formula Four comes in duros like 99a (all-round grip and slide) and 101a (harder, faster, more slide) plus grippier options for rough surfaces. We can match wheels to how and where you skate.
