How Step On Works

Step On uses a proprietary interface built into the binding and the boot sole. Three connection points engage simultaneously when you apply downward pressure with your foot — two heel clips at the back of the heel and a toe hook at the front. The connection is solid and secure with no movement between boot and binding. To release, you press the heel lever with your other boot or hand and step back. The whole process takes under two seconds in either direction once you've done it a handful of times.

The mechanical connection is genuinely secure — this is not a compromise on performance for convenience. Step On bindings are stiff enough for aggressive all-mountain and freeride riding, and the three-point connection transmits edge pressure efficiently in both heel and toe directions. What You Need for Step On

Step On requires specific compatible boots — the interface hardware is built into the boot sole and cannot be added to a regular snowboard boot. Burton makes the full range of Step On compatible boots across men's and women's in soft through to stiff flex options. The system is exclusively Burton — no third-party manufacturers currently produce Step On compatible boots or bindings.

Step On bindings mount to boards via Burton's Channel system or standard 4x4 disc — compatible with all Burton boards and most non-Burton boards. Check compatibility before buying if you're running a non-Burton board.
