No, that is a common myth. Super73 makes street legal models, and a fat tyre bike is exactly as legal as any other bike as long as it meets the street legal spec. We also stock Super73's higher-powered off-road models. If you would like a hand choosing, give us a call.
In Australia a street legal e-bike is EN15194-certified: a 250W motor, pedal-assist, cutting off at 25km/h, treated the same as a regular bicycle with no licence or registration. The fat tyres make no difference to that. Super73 has street legal models that meet this spec, and higher-powered models that do not.
You are paying for build quality, brand and community. Super73 is a properly engineered premium e-bike out of Orange County with genuine motorcycle-influenced design, not a rebadged generic frame. It also carries one of the most active rider communities of any e-bike brand. If value-per-spec is your priority rather than brand, Fatboy is the smarter buy and we will tell you that honestly.
