I absolutely love the bike and use it nearly everyday.
I’m 67 years old but it’s a bit like going back to having dirt bikes in the mid seventies! Also 12 boards was easy to deal with. A great shop.

Adding another to my collection, best layer for 1st or 2nd layer.

Fatboy Scrambler V3 Step-Over Electric Fat Bike | Available in Performance and Ultra

The Fatboy Scrambler V3 stays true to what made it famous. Rugged, playful, and built for the long way around — it's the bike for riders who take the scenic route on purpose. Whether you're rolling through town, heading down a bush track, or loading up for a two-up weekend ride, the Scrambler brings the same energy every time. The V3 generation backs that character up with Fatboy's most advanced technology yet, starting with the FBX Power Platform, developed alongside Bafang, connecting the battery, motor, and controller into one unified intelligent ecosystem. The result is smoother, more consistent power across all nine assist levels, better efficiency under load, and a riding feel that's confident and responsive wherever you point it.

The V3 suspension is Fatboy's own proprietary design — an industry first for fat-tyre e-bikes, built from custom tooling engineered specifically for the V3's weight and geometry, with preload, compression, and rebound tuning front and rear. Dial it in to your weight, your load, and your terrain — it makes a genuine difference on longer rides and when you're carrying a passenger. Stopping power comes from custom 4-piston calipers with metal sintered pads and cooling fins, paired with heavy-duty 203mm discs now 2.9mm thick — consistent, controlled braking under any condition. Ergonomics were fully reconsidered for the V3: refined seat profile, new handlebar position, and an updated crank ratio that keeps pedalling smooth at any speed. Two variants, one great bike — choose the one that suits your state and your ambitions.

Why Ride the Scrambler V3 Performance?

✅ Step-Over Frame – Classic Scrambler stance, confident and planted; built for adventure riding and two-up use
✅ FBX Power Platform – Developed with Bafang, unifies battery, motor and controller for smoother power, better efficiency and smarter control
✅ Password-Protected Speed Control – Set and lock a custom top speed via FBX; perfect for shared riders and family use
✅ Custom Fatboy Suspension – Industry-first proprietary front fork with preload, compression and rebound tuning built for V3 geometry
✅ Fully Adjustable Front + Rear Suspension – Fine-tune your setup for any terrain, rider weight, or load
✅ 4-Piston Brakes with Metal Sintered Pads – Custom calipers, cooling fins, 203mm discs 2.9mm thick — consistent stopping under any condition
✅ BAFANG 500W Motor / 1,560W Peak / 95Nm Torque – Strong, confident power for commuting, adventure riding, and two-up
✅ 48V 20Ah Samsung Battery – Reliable everyday range with FBX-optimised efficiency
✅ Refined Ergonomics – Updated seat profile, new bar position, updated crank ratio for natural posture and all-day comfort
✅ Rear Cargo Rack + Passenger Footpegs – Rated to 180kg total; two-up ready from the factory
✅ Available in VIC, QLD, SA, ACT, WA and TAS

Why Ride the Scrambler V3 Ultra?

✅ Everything in the Performance, plus:
✅ 52V 20Ah Samsung Battery – Higher voltage for more torque, better efficiency under load and stronger performance across the full assist range
✅ 100Nm Torque – 5Nm more than the Performance; the difference is felt on hills, under load, and two-up
✅ UL2849 Certified – Frame, battery and charger certified to the highest Australian safety standard
✅ Available in All States Including NSW – The only Scrambler V3 variant legal to sell in NSW; the unrestricted choice for every Australian rider
✅ The Go-Anywhere Model – Same bike, stronger system, no restrictions on where you can buy or ride it

⚡ Performance vs Ultra — Which One Is Right for You?

The Scrambler V3 Performance and Ultra share the same frame, the same industry-first suspension, the same 4-piston braking system, and the same FBX power platform. The difference is in the electrical system — and what that means for where you can ride and how the bike feels when you push it.

The Performance runs a 48V system delivering 95Nm of torque — more than enough for adventure riding, daily commuting, and two-up use across most of Australia. If you're outside NSW and want the full Scrambler V3 experience at the best possible price, the Performance is the one.

The Ultra steps up to 52V and 100Nm, and adds UL2849 certification across the frame, battery and charger. That certification isn't just a sticker — it's what makes the Ultra legal to sell and ride in every Australian state, including NSW. Outside NSW it's the choice for riders who want the most capable version of the Scrambler V3, more torque under load, and the confidence of riding Australia's most fully certified fat-tyre e-bike.

NSW customers: the Ultra is your model. The Performance cannot be sold in NSW due to state battery certification requirements introduced in 2025.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Scrambler V3 legal to ride on Australian roads?

Yes — when operated in pedal-assist mode restricted to 25km/h, both the Performance and Ultra meet Australian EPAC requirements and are legal for public road use. The motor cuts out at 25km/h and the twist throttle must be isolated on public roads — it's for private property use only. One important distinction: the Performance is not available for sale in NSW due to state battery certification requirements introduced in 2025. NSW customers must select the Ultra, which carries UL2849 certification and is available in all states. Regulations vary slightly by state so call us on 03 9421 2293 if you want clarity before purchasing.

What's the real-world range on the Scrambler V3?

Real-world range varies based on rider weight, terrain, tyre pressure, temperature, and assist level. The FBX platform improves efficiency over older Fatboy systems, meaning both the 48V and 52V 20Ah Samsung batteries go further under equivalent conditions. In mixed city riding at moderate assist, expect 40–70km from either variant. For maximum range: use PAS 1–2 on flat sections, maintain recommended tyre pressure, and avoid repeated full-throttle starts. The Scrambler V3 is tuned for strong, confident riding — keeping assist at moderate levels on flatter sections rewards you with noticeably better range.

What's the difference between the Performance and the Ultra?

Same frame, same suspension, same brakes, same FBX platform — the Ultra steps up the electrical system. The 52V battery delivers 100Nm of torque versus 95Nm on the Performance's 48V system, and runs more efficiently under sustained load. The Ultra also carries UL2849 certification across frame, battery and charger, making it available in every Australian state including NSW. If you're in NSW the Ultra is your only option. Outside NSW, the Performance is excellent value — the Ultra is for riders who want the most capable version, or who simply want the fully certified model regardless of state.

Which variant should I buy — Performance or Ultra?

If you're in NSW: Ultra, no question. The Performance cannot be sold there. If you're outside NSW: the Performance covers everything most riders need — commuting, adventure riding, errands, two-up — at a sharper price. The Ultra earns its premium if you regularly ride two-up, tackle hills, carry loads, or simply want the most capable and fully certified version of the Scrambler V3. Not sure? Call us on 03 9421 2293 or come into our Melbourne showroom and we'll sort it out in five minutes.

Which model should I choose — EN15194, Performance, or Ultra?

The Scrambler V3 range covers three distinct needs. The EN15194 is the entry-level certified model — 250W, capped hard at 25km/h, cannot be unlocked, road-legal in all states. It's the right choice for pure commuting and riders who want the simplest compliance story. The Performance is the 500W step-up — more torque, full FBX platform, private property unlocking to 45km/h — available in all states except NSW. The Ultra matches the Performance's capability and adds UL2849 certification and an extra 5Nm of torque, making it available everywhere including NSW. Still unsure? We stock all three in our Melbourne showroom — come in and ride them back to back.

How does the Scrambler V3 compare to the V2?

Both run a BAFANG motor and Samsung battery, so the fundamentals are familiar. The V3 upgrades are substantial: the FBX unified power platform for smoother delivery and password speed control, Fatboy's proprietary custom suspension with full preload/compression/rebound tuning versus the V2's standard front fork, upgraded 4-piston brakes with metal sintered pads and 2.9mm thick discs, and refined ergonomics throughout. The V2 remains available at a sharper clearance price for riders who don't need the latest technology. Both are in our Melbourne showroom.

About Fatboy Electric Bikes — Melbourne's Home of Fatboy

Fatboy was built by two Australian mates with a simple idea: have fun, get outdoors, reduce your carbon footprint and feel the breeze on your knees. Not a corporate e-bike brand. A genuinely fun, two-seater fat-tyre machine designed in Australia, built with premium components, and priced to make people wonder why they ever considered anything else. The Fatboy range at Twelve Board Store covers three model families across two generations, plus the mid-sized DNA, with multiple spec tiers within each:

Scrambler — the original Fatboy. Rugged step-over frame, cafe-racer inspired. Available in V2 (original spec) and V3. The V3 runs a 52V 20Ah Samsung battery with a Bafang 500W motor, dual suspension, 4-piston hydraulic brakes and Vee Rubber fat tyres. EN15194 certified variant available and legal Australia-wide.

Harlem — the step-through urban cruiser. Built for comfortable everyday riding and easy two-up capability. Available in V2 and V3. Same 52V 20Ah Samsung and Bafang 500W setup as the Scrambler V3, with dual suspension and up to 100km range. EN15194 certified variant available.

DNA — the mid-sized Fatboy. A more compact platform that sits between entry-level and the full-size models. Available in EN and Performance spec variants.

Bagus — Fatboy's flagship. V2 and V3 available. The Bagus V3 uses the FBX Power Platform — a unified battery, motor and controller ecosystem developed with Bafang for smoother, more consistent power across all nine assist levels. The Bagus V3 comes in three variants: EN (EN15194 certified, legal Australia-wide), Performance (52V 25Ah Samsung, extended range, FBX system), and Ultra (100Nm torque, UL2849 certified, legal to sell in NSW, the most capable Fatboy ever built).

Every Fatboy runs a 52V Bafang rear hub motor, Samsung lithium-ion battery, 4-piston hydraulic disc brakes, Vee Rubber 20×4" fat tyres, dual suspension and an LCD display with USB charging. All models carry two-up capacity rated to 180kg. Twist throttle is included for private property use. Twelve Board Store is an authorised Fatboy dealer. Every bike is assembled, safety-checked and professionally tuned by our in-house tech team before it ships or gets picked up. We operate a full-service electric bike workshop for ongoing servicing, repairs and warranty. Demo rides available in-store at 435A Bridge Road Richmond.
