Our Commitment to Sustainability

At Twelve Board Store, we know that being a retailer in the action sports world comes with responsibility. We're not perfect, and its really hard sometimes to find things that are affordable and work — but every day, we’re making real efforts to reduce our impact and do better for the planet we love to ride, skate, and explore.

Here's how we're working towards it:

• Highlighting Sustainable Gear: We showcase brands and products that use recycled materials, organic fabrics, and eco-conscious production wherever possible.  We are lucky in our industry that some of our favorite brands are deeply passionate about sustainability in the products they produce.

• Eco-Friendly In-Store Practices: From recycled packaging when we can and utilizing recycled options to energy-efficient lighting and power, we make small but real changes in how we run our shop.  We continue to change what we do daily and are always seeking new business partners to help in reducing, reusing and recycling.

• Minimal and Recycled Packaging: Your orders are packed using recycled boxes and compostable mailers whenever possible — and we keep packaging to a minimum and reuse absolutely everything we can such as boxes and packaging we receive goods.

• Repair Over Replace: We sell spare parts to extend the life of your equipment or will go above and beyond to find parts if possible so we can keep your gear going.  Let us know what you need.

• Greener Shipping Choices: We try to make sure we use couriers that offer carbon-neutral delivery options to help offset emissions.  Sometimes we are limited with choice as well as affordability but we do what we can. 

• Gear Recycling and Donations: We offer a gear drop-off program for old snowboards to repurpose, as well as a yearly jacket donation to give to Melbourne's homeless.  

• Educational Content: We want to share tips, blogs, and posts on how to care for your gear, why fat-tyre e-bikes are a sustainable choice, and how small changes make a big difference.  Passing on anything that comes our way.

• Supporting Local Initiatives: We always look to get behind local community-driven environmental projects like tree planting, clean-up days, and sustainable events whenever things come up.  If you have something coming up we can be involved with please reach out.
