Spray-on vs wash-in

Spray-on treatments target the outer face only — ideal for jackets and pants where you want the outside water-repellent but the inside untouched. Wash-in treatments go through the whole garment in the machine and suit gloves, base layers and items where all-over repellency helps. For most outerwear, a technical wash followed by a spray-on DWR is the reliable combination.

How to reproof

Clean the garment first with a technical wash (regular detergent leaves residue that kills breathability), then apply the DWR to a clean, damp garment and activate it with low heat — a warm tumble dry or a cool iron through a cloth, following the product instructions. Reproof when water stops beading on the surface and starts soaking in.

When to reproof

A good sign it's time: water no longer beads and rolls off, and the fabric looks dark and damp where it's wetted out. Most riders reproof their shell once or twice a season depending on how hard they ride. Free shipping Australia-wide on orders over $90.
