Onewheel XR Classic Electric Board
The Cult Favourite. Remastered. Ride it Your Way.
The Onewheel XR is the board that defined modern single-wheel riding — and now it's back. The XR Classic takes the legendary full-size XR frame and reengineers it from the ground up: a second-generation 6" Hypercore motor running on a high-voltage 75V NMC battery, Custom Shaping 3.0, Slim Lowboy footpads, and a 6" Performance Treaded Tire developed with the Onewheel Factory Team. The result is a full-size board that carves harder, climbs steeper, and goes further than the original ever did — with a personality you dial in yourself.
Top speed is 32km/h. Range is 27–39km per charge. The XR Classic sits lower than the GT — slimmer rails and a raised axle mount drop the ride height by 6mm — giving it a planted, confidence-inspiring feel that makes it more approachable for newer riders without losing the dynamic edge that experienced riders are after. It's full-sized, not bulky. Stable, not slow.
Two rail options let you choose your stance from the factory: Straight Rails for the classic locked-in city feel, or Recurve Rails for improved foot positioning, more locked-in control, and an elevated all-terrain stance. Both versions come with the same motor, battery, and firmware — same performance, different ride feel. Both are in our Melbourne showroom so you can ride them side by side before you decide.
Two Rail Options. Two Ride Experiences.
✅ Straight Rails — Classic, low-profile feel. The best-selling original rail design. Great for stability, carving, and responsive city riding
✅ Recurve Rails — Adds subtle rocker for improved foot positioning, more locked-in control, and an elevated all-terrain stance. Perfect for heavier riders or those who want more support at speed or off-road
Why Upgrade from Pint X to the XR Classic?
✅ More Range — 27–39km per charge vs the Pint X's 19–29km; the XR Classic is built for longer missions, not just commutes
✅ More Speed — 32km/h vs 29km/h, with a bigger powerband and stronger punch out of corners
✅ Full-Size Stability — The larger full-size deck makes it easier for new riders and gives experienced riders more to work with at speed and on trail
✅ Performance Treaded Tyre — Factory-fit 6" tread pattern developed with the Onewheel Factory Team; grips dirt, gravel, and streets with equal confidence
✅ Custom Shaping 3.0 — Adjust acceleration profile, turn compensation, and jump re-engagement via the app; the Pint X runs preset Digital Shaping 2.0 modes only
✅ Two Rail Choices — Pick the rail that suits your riding style before the board leaves the shop
✅ Deepest Accessory Ecosystem — Rails, footpads, fenders, lights — more customisation options than any other board in the Onewheel range

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Onewheel XR Classic legal to ride in Australia?
Rules vary by state and territory. The XR Classic is currently not available for supply into New South Wales due to NSW electrical safety certification requirements for e-micromobility devices. In Victoria, Queensland, and most other states, private use is generally permitted — however regulations around public roads, shared paths, and footpaths differ. Call us on 03 9421 2293 if you want clarity on your state's rules before buying.
What's the difference between Straight Rails and Recurve Rails?
Straight Rails are the classic XR feel — low, locked-in, and great for city riding and carving. Recurve Rails add a subtle rocker shape to the rail profile that improves foot positioning and gives a more locked-in stance, especially when riding off-road or at speed. Heavier riders and trail riders tend to prefer Recurve. City and all-round riders tend to prefer Straight. Both are the same board underneath — same motor, battery, and performance. Both are available to ride in our Melbourne showroom.
How does the XR Classic compare to the GT?
The GT is the max-range board — 32–52km per charge vs the XR Classic's 27–39km, with the same 32km/h top speed. The XR Classic rides lower than the GT (slimmer rails, raised axle mount, 6mm less ride height) and uses a different tyre profile. The GT uses Custom Shaping 3.0 as well. If pure range is the priority, the GT wins. If you want the classic XR proportions with modern tech at a lower price point, the XR Classic is the pick. Both are on the floor in Melbourne — come ride them.
What's the real-world range on the XR Classic?
Official range is 27–39km per charge. Real-world range depends on rider weight, terrain, tyre pressure, temperature, and riding style. A lighter rider on flat ground in a mellow shaping profile will approach the top of that window. Heavier riders, hills, and aggressive riding will bring it toward the lower end. For best range: maintain tyre pressure, ease into acceleration from a stop, and ride smooth rather than punchy.
Is the XR Classic suitable for beginners?
Yes — the full-size deck gives new riders more stability and leverage than compact boards, and Custom Shaping 3.0 lets you start with a gentle acceleration profile and dial it up as you improve. The lowered ride height (vs the GT) adds extra confidence at lower speeds. Demo rides are available 7 days a week at our Melbourne showroom — the best way to feel the difference between rail styles and board sizes before you buy.
About Onewheel
Onewheel is made by Future Motion — a California company that has been designing and assembling self-balancing electric boards in the USA since 2014. The original XR launched in 2018 and became the best-selling Onewheel of all time before being discontinued in 2021. After years of requests from the global riding community, Future Motion relaunched it in November 2024 as the XR Classic — same iconic proportions, completely rebuilt internals. Over 300,000 riders. 170 million miles ridden across 139 countries. Twelve Board Store has been an official Onewheel retailer in Australia since the early days of the brand.

The Onewheel XR Classic is the board that started a movement, rebuilt from the ground up with modern power electronics, longer range, and a ride feel that no other electric board comes close to matching. After 10 years of building Onewheels, Future Motion CEO Kyle Doerksen calls it "the one I've truly dreamed of making." That's not marketing — it's the result of a decade of rider feedback distilled into a single board. If you've ever ridden a Onewheel, this is what you wished it was. If you've never ridden one, this is where you start.
The XR Classic delivers 32 km/h top speed, 27–39 km of range, and a 750W Hypercore brushless hub motor with updated power electronics and higher voltage — more torque, more responsiveness, and more power across the full speed range. The full-sized frame sits 0.25" lower than the GT thanks to slimmer rails and a raised axle mount, creating a stable, grounded platform that's easier for new riders and more rewarding for experienced ones. It carves like a snowboard, pumps like a surfboard, and handles anything from Melbourne footpaths to mountain trails.
This is not a scooter. It's not a skateboard. It's a category of one — and the XR Classic is the best version of it ever made.
Why the XR Classic?
The XR Classic sits at the sweet spot of the Onewheel range — bigger and more capable than the Pint X, more accessible and city-friendly than the GT. It's the right size, the right power, and the right range for riders who want to do everything: commute, trail ride, carve coastal paths, and keep going when everyone else has gone home to charge. The Goldilocks board — not too big, not too small, absolutely everything you need.

What Makes It Different
Hypercore 750W Hub Motor — Brushless, silent, and powerful across the entire speed range. Updated higher-voltage electronics deliver snappy acceleration and strong torque at all speeds. Regenerative braking recharges the battery on descents, extending your range on hilly terrain. Handles 30-degree inclines without breaking stride.
6" Performance Treaded Tyre — Notched tread compound engineered for maximum grip across asphalt, gravel, grass, sand and dirt. The larger 6" hub increases air volume significantly over older Onewheel models, absorbing bumps and rough surfaces for that floaty, smooth sensation. The same tyre technology trusted by over 300,000 riders worldwide.
Lowboy Footpads — Slim-profile footpads that sit lower than any previous Onewheel XR platform, dropping your centre of gravity and improving stability at speed. Refined concave and 24mm rear kick keeps your feet locked in the sweet spot. Softened edges make long sessions comfortable. Surestance sensor technology provides precise foot detection.
Low & Sleek Frame — Slimmer rails and a raised axle mount lower the ride height by 0.25" compared to the GT. The result is confidence-inspiring stability without losing ground clearance. Classic Blue anodised aluminium frame rails — the colour the original XR made iconic.
Haptic Buzz & Pushback — Haptic Buzz uses vibration and audible alerts to warn you as you approach the board's performance limits — speed threshold, low battery, critical tilt angle. Pushback provides a physical cue through the board's nose lift. Two layers of safety communication working together, so you're never caught out.
Custom Shaping 3.0 — The Onewheel app lets you dial in the board to suit your exact riding style. Adjust acceleration aggressiveness, turn compensation, jump re-engagement, and speed limits. Create and save custom profiles. Switch between modes on the fly. Available on iOS and Android.
Maghandle Pro Included — Premium metal carrying handle mounts directly to the rails. Makes carrying the board between rides, through buildings, or up stairs effortless. Included in the box — not an add-on.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Onewheel XR Classic legal to ride in Victoria?
In Victoria, electric personal mobility devices are currently permitted on footpaths, shared paths and bike paths at a maximum speed of 10 km/h, with road use not permitted. Riders over 16 do not require a licence. Rules vary by state — we recommend checking your local council guidelines before riding on public land. We're happy to advise in-store or over the phone on where local riders are getting their sessions in around Melbourne.
How hard is it to learn to ride a Onewheel?
Most riders find their feet within 30–60 minutes. The XR Classic's full-sized frame and lowered ride height makes it more stable and forgiving than the original XR, particularly for new riders. The learning curve is real but short — the instinct to lean forward and back comes naturally to anyone with a snowboard or surf background. We offer in-store test ride sessions at our Melbourne showroom for anyone who wants to try before they buy.
What's the difference between the XR Classic and the Onewheel GT?
The GT is larger, heavier, and has a more aggressive power delivery — built for experienced riders who want maximum performance on technical terrain. The XR Classic is lighter, sits lower, and has a more accessible power curve that suits a wider range of riders and terrain. If you're new to Onewheels or doing a mix of city and trail riding, the XR Classic is the right call. If you're an experienced rider focused on off-road performance, the GT is worth the step up. Come in and we'll help you decide.
What accessories should I get with the XR Classic?
The Hypercharger is the first thing we recommend — it cuts charge time from ~225 minutes to ~60 minutes and changes the board completely for regular riders. A helmet is non-negotiable. Wrist guards and knee pads are strongly recommended while learning. Beyond safety gear, the Fender keeps road spray and mud off your legs, and the Maghandle Pro (included) makes the board easy to carry. We can put together a full setup package in-store or online.
Does Twelve Board Store service and repair Onewheels?
Yes. Our electrics workshop handles Onewheel diagnostics, setup, tyre changes, footpad swaps and warranty claims in-house. Frosty runs the workshop — he's the person on the tools, not a third-party service centre. If something goes wrong with your board post-purchase, bring it in and we'll sort it. Warranty support is handled directly through us as an authorised Future Motion dealer.
What rail option should I choose — Straight or Recurve?
Straight rails are the classic XR feel — great for city riding, footpaths and groomed trails. Recurve rails feature an asymmetric geometry that gives more leverage and ground clearance for off-road riding, roots, rocks and technical terrain. If you're mostly riding urban environments, go Straight. If you're planning to get off the path regularly, Recurve is worth it. Both options are available — ask us when ordering.
