Fatboy DNA V3 Electric Bike
Two Versions. One Bike. Pick Your Power.
The DNA V3 is Fatboy's entry point into the fat tyre electric bike world — light, simple, and seriously easy to ride. Built for shorter and younger riders, or anyone who wants the iconic Fatboy look and confidence without the bulk, the DNA delivers a rigid, responsive ride that feels natural from the first pedal stroke. No gears to think about. No complexity. Just hop on and go.
Where other e-bikes compromise on aesthetics to pack in power, the DNA keeps things honest — a clean single speed drivetrain, a compact rigid frame, and the FBX intelligent power architecture developed alongside Bafang connecting the motor, battery and controller into one seamless ecosystem. The result is smoother power delivery, better efficiency and a more controlled ride built into the core of the bike.
The DNA V3 comes in two versions. The EN15194 version runs a 250W motor, is built to the European EPAC safety standard, and cannot be unlocked past 25 km/h. The Performance version runs a 500W motor, is software limited to 25 km/h out of the box and can be unlocked to 45 km/h for private property use. Same frame, same battery, same brakes. The difference is power and where you are allowed to ride it.
EN15194 or Performance: Which One?
- Motor: EN15194 250W continuous | Performance 500W continuous
- Torque: EN15194 90 Nm | Performance 95 Nm
- Top assisted speed: Both limited to 25 km/h as delivered
- Unlocking: EN15194 cannot be unlocked | Performance unlockable to 45 km/h, private property only
- Certification: EN15194 built to EN15194:2017 | Performance is not sold as an EPAC bike
- Everything else: identical — same 48V 15Ah Samsung battery, same frame, same 4-piston brakes, same single speed drivetrain
Short version: if the bike is for roads, paths and commuting, buy the EN15194. If it is for private property, acreage or off-road, and you want the extra power and the unlock, buy the Performance. Not sure? Call us on 03 9421 2293 and we will talk it through before you order.

Real-World Range
Fatboy rates the DNA V3 at up to 70 km on the 48V 15Ah Samsung battery. That is a flat-road, low-assist, light-rider figure. In real Melbourne riding with hills, stop-start traffic and higher assist levels, expect meaningfully less, and expect throttle use to cost you range faster than pedal assist does. Charging takes 4 to 6 hours from flat. Range varies with rider weight, terrain, assist level, throttle use, wind, tyre pressure and temperature.
Road Legality in Australia
To ride an electric bike on public roads and paths in Australia it generally needs to meet EPAC requirements: motor assistance limited to 25 km/h, a maximum continuous rated motor power of 250W, and assistance that works with your pedalling rather than propelling the bike on its own.
EN15194 version. Built to EN15194:2017, the European safety standard for EPAC electric bikes, with a 250W continuous rated motor and assistance capped at 25 km/h. It cannot be unlocked or de-restricted. This is the version to buy if you intend to ride on roads and paths.
Performance version. The 500W continuous rated motor exceeds the 250W limit that applies in most Australian states, and the bike can be unlocked to 45 km/h. Treat this version as private property and off-road use. Do not assume it is road legal where you live.
Both versions. The twist throttle is supplied with an isolator switch and is intended for private property use only. Isolate the throttle before riding on public roads or paths. E-bike rules differ between states and between roads, bike paths and shared paths, so check your state's road authority before you ride. We are happy to walk you through it in store.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the EN15194 and Performance versions?
Power and where you can ride. The EN15194 runs a 250W motor built to the European EPAC standard and cannot be unlocked past 25 km/h, which makes it the version for roads and paths. The Performance runs a 500W motor, is limited to 25 km/h as delivered and can be unlocked to 45 km/h for private property. Frame, battery, brakes and drivetrain are identical.
Which version should I buy?
If the bike is for commuting, bike paths and public roads, buy the EN15194. If it is for a farm, acreage or private land and you want the extra power, buy the Performance. Buying the Performance for road use and relying on the 25 km/h limit is a risk we would rather you understood before you order, not after.
What is EN15194 and why does it matter?
EN15194:2017 is the European safety standard for EPAC electric bikes and is one of two certification routes recognised for road-legal e-bikes in Australia, the other being UL2271 and UL2849. A bike built to EN15194 has been tested against requirements covering electrical safety, braking performance, motor power limits and the 25 km/h assistance cut-off. It is the standard you want behind a bike you intend to ride on the road.
Do I need a licence or registration?
Not for a bike that meets EPAC requirements. A compliant e-bike is treated as a bicycle under Australian law rather than a motor vehicle, so no licence, no registration and no compulsory third party insurance. You still need a helmet and you still follow the road rules. A bike running 500W or unlocked past 25 km/h is a different matter and may be treated as a motor vehicle, which is the core reason the two versions exist.
Can the EN15194 version be unlocked later?
No. The EN15194 version is built to stay at 250W and 25 km/h and cannot be de-restricted. If you want the unlock, the Performance version is the one to buy from the start.
How does the throttle work?
Both versions ship with a twist throttle and an isolator switch in the box. The throttle is intended for private property use only, and the isolator lets you disable it before riding on public roads or paths. Use the isolator.
Who does the DNA V3 suit?
It is Fatboy's entry bike, built lighter and more compact than the rest of the range, which makes it a good fit for shorter and younger riders or anyone who finds a full-size fat tyre bike more than they want to handle. It carries 180 kg and has rear footpegs and a cargo rack as standard.
Can I test ride the DNA V3 in Melbourne?
Yes. Visit Twelve Board Store in Richmond to ride the DNA V3 before you buy. Call ahead on 03 9421 2293 to confirm which version and colourway is on the floor and we will have it charged and ready to go.

The Bagus V3 uses the FBX Power Platform — a unified battery, motor and controller ecosystem developed with Bafang for smoother, more consistent power across all nine assist levels. The Bagus V3 comes in three variants: EN (EN15194 certified, legal Australia-wide), Performance (52V 25Ah Samsung, extended range, FBX system), and Ultra (100Nm torque, UL2849 certified, legal to sell in NSW, the most capable Fatboy ever built).
Every Fatboy runs a 52V Bafang rear hub motor, Samsung lithium-ion battery, 4-piston hydraulic disc brakes, Vee Rubber 20×4" fat tyres, dual suspension and an LCD display with USB charging.
