Jones Storm Chaser Snowboard | 2027
The Ultimate Powder Rocket
The Jones Storm Chaser 2027 is a powder-hungry swallowtail designed by surf shaper Chris Christenson that floats like a dream and effortlessly glides through terrain on the deepest days. Built for riders chasing deep days, surf-style turns, and pure powder performance, the Storm Chaser packs insane float into a compact, nimble shape that thrives when conditions are most people's excuse to stay home.
The Christenson Surf Rocker profile is what makes this board unlike any other in the Jones range — a custom tip and tail rocker designed by Chris Christenson himself, with large gradual nose rocker starting just inside the front inserts and tail rocker starting just at the back inserts. When you weight the tail, the nose ramps up out of the snow for insane float. The deep swallowtail cutout reduces tail swing weight and drag, enabling quick, responsive turns even at compact board sizes. The 3D Contour Base 3.0 features an even 7mm of spoon bevel in both nose and tail for smooth, rolling turn transitions that feel more like surfing than snowboarding.
The Bamboo Surf Core is a triple-density Paulownia core with bamboo stringers specifically positioned in the pocket of the sidecut — placing the stiffer, more powerful material exactly where edge response and turn power are needed. Sustainable Flax/Basalt Power Stringers made from 100% natural fibres eliminate nose and tail chatter while transferring power to the edges. The ECO-Plastic Topsheet is bio-plastic from Castor beans — ultralight, chip-resistant, and snow-repellent. The ultra-wide waist and 20mm taper mean you can size down 6–13cm from your normal board length and still get more float than you've ever had.

Size Down Guide
The Storm Chaser is designed to be ridden 6–13cm shorter than your standard board length. The ultra-wide waist and volume-shifted shape provide the float of a much longer board in a compact, nimble package. Want tighter, surfy turns and more manoeuvrability? Size toward the lower end. Want more stability and drive in open terrain? Stay closer to the 6cm size-down end.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does the Storm Chaser compare to the Hovercraft 2.0?
Both are volume-shifted and designed to be ridden shorter than standard, but they're built for different priorities. The Hovercraft 2.0 is a tapered directional all-conditions board with directional rocker — it charges hard in everything from hardpack to powder and works well as a daily driver. The Storm Chaser is a dedicated powder specialist with a swallowtail, Christenson Surf Rocker, and much wider waist (27.5cm vs ~25.5–26cm on the Hovercraft) — it's optimised specifically for deep snow and surf-style riding. On a powder day the Storm Chaser will outfloat and outsurface the Hovercraft significantly; on groomed days the Hovercraft is the more versatile, better-balanced board. Jeremy Jones himself calls the Storm Chaser his favourite board in the range — not just for powder but for spring slush and resort riding too.
Can the Storm Chaser be ridden as a daily driver or is it only for powder days?
It's more versatile than its looks suggest. The Traction Tech 3.0 edges and 7/10 directional flex give it solid grip and stability on groomers, and the 3D Contour Base 3.0 with 7mm/7mm bevel keeps it from feeling catchy on firmer snow. Blister gave it 25+ days of testing at the resort and found it genuinely capable in varied conditions. That said, its character shines most in soft snow — it's not a board you'd reach for on an icy, groomed day when you want maximum edge hold. At Australian resorts, it works well on the good-to-great snow days and is genuinely excellent on the powder days that Buller, Falls Creek, and the Snowies occasionally deliver.
What size Storm Chaser should I ride?
Size down 6–13cm from your standard board length. If you normally ride a 162, you'd be looking at a 149–156 on the Storm Chaser — the 152 or 157 depending on whether you want more manoeuvrability or more stability. Use rider weight as the primary guide, then adjust based on preference: tighter trees and creative riding favour the smaller end; open faces and higher speeds favour the larger end. The 142cm is ideal for lighter riders (54–77kg) who want maximum playfulness. Not sure? Call us on 03 9421 2293 and we'll help you dial in the right size.
