The Jones Hovercraft 2.0 2027 is a modern evolution of one of the most iconic freeride shapes ever built — redesigned to deliver more speed, better float, and smoother control across every condition. Built for riders who want to charge hard, carve deep, and float effortlessly in powder, the Hovercraft 2.0 is a compact, volume-shifted board that rides shorter without sacrificing performance.
The defining update on the 2.0 is the 3D Contour Base 3.0 — featuring 12mm of spoon bevel in the nose for lightning-fast turn initiation and a 3D hull in the tail that reduces friction and adds glide. Together these shape changes make the board noticeably more energetic, easier to turn, and less taxing on your legs across a full day on the hill. The directional rocker profile keeps the nose floating in soft snow while camber underfoot provides edge hold and response when you need to drive hard.
The Re-Up Tech Core is built from responsibly harvested Paulownia and Poplar with embedded stringers made from reclaimed snowboards — old boards repurposed back into new ones. The Sustainable Flax Topsheet replaces a traditional synthetic topsheet with carbon-neutral flax fibre that absorbs chatter and reduces resin content. Recycled ABS sidewalls, oversize recycled steel edges, and Bio Resin epoxy complete the construction — a board that's genuinely built with sustainability at its core, not just marketed that way.

The Hovercraft 2.0 is designed to be ridden shorter than a standard board. Most riders can size down 4–6cm from their usual length while maintaining excellent float and stability thanks to the wider, volume-shifted shape. Want maximum stability for high-speed freeriding? Size up. Prefer quicker edge-to-edge response in trees and tight terrain? Size down.

What size Jones board do I need?
Start with your weight and boot size, then think about where you ride. Our Jones size charts cover the range, and we're happy to size you up in store or over the phone.
What is 3D Contour Base?
It's the spoon shaped bevel Jones builds into the nose and tail. The edges lift away from the snow there, so the board glides, turns and floats more easily.
Do Jones FASE bindings need special boots?
No. Jones says FASE works with any snowboard boot. If you're not sure about your board, ask us and we'll check before you buy.
Can I drop off my old board for Re-Up?
Yes. We're a Jones Re-Up drop-off point. Any brand is fine, as long as the board is in one piece with a wood core. Splitboards aren't accepted yet.
Can I pick up in store or return it?
Yes, you can pick up from our Richmond showroom. For returns and exchanges, everything you need is in our returns policy.

The core shape and philosophy are the same — tapered directional, volume-shifted, directional rocker — but the 2.0 has been meaningfully updated. The biggest change is the 3D Contour Base 3.0, which adds 12mm of spoon bevel in the nose (faster turn initiation) and a 3D hull in the tail (more glide, less drag). The 2.0 also incorporates Re-Up Tech construction using reclaimed snowboard materials throughout, and the Sustainable Flax Topsheet replacing a traditional synthetic layer. The result is a board that feels more energetic, easier to turn, and less fatiguing across a full day — while being genuinely more sustainable than the original.
Size down 4–6cm from your standard board length. The volume-shifted shape — wider than a traditional board at the same length — provides the same float and stability in a more compact, easier-to-turn package. A rider who typically rides a 158 would be well-placed on a 152 or 156 Hovercraft 2.0. Use the rider weight column in the size chart as your starting point, then adjust based on riding style: go smaller for trees and quick terrain, stay at the larger end of your weight range for high-speed stability and powder. Yes — and it works better at Australian resorts than many dedicated powder boards. The medium flex (6/10) and camber underfoot give it genuine edge hold on the groomed and hardpack conditions that dominate Buller, Falls Creek, Thredbo, and Perisher most days. The volume-shifted shape means you're riding a shorter, more manoeuvrable board that's easier to control on firm snow, not an overlong powder plank that feels sluggish on groomers. On the good days when there's fresh snow, the directional rocker and floaty nose come into their own. It's a legitimate one-board quiver for riders who ride Australian resorts regularly but want to be ready when conditions are excellent.
