Santa Cruz Screwballs Skateboard Wheels 56mm/99a | Blue
56mm, 99a Screwballs for street, park and transition.
The Santa Cruz Screwballs wheels are a 56mm, 99a wheel with the Screwballs graphic in blue. They're a dependable all-round wheel for street, park and transition, with classic Santa Cruz style. Great for skaters who split time between the streets and the bowl.
Hard 99a urethane gives fast roll, easy slides and a responsive feel on smooth concrete. The 56mm size carries more speed than a small street wheel, which helps in transition and on longer lines, while still being manageable for flatground and ledges.

About Santa Cruz Skateboards
Santa Cruz Skateboards made its first board in 1973 under NHS, the company founded by Richard Novak, Doug Haut and Jay Shuirman in Santa Cruz, California (NHS comes from their initials). It calls itself the oldest continuous skateboard company, and it marked 50 years in skateboarding in 2023.
The Screaming Hand, drawn by artist Jim Phillips in 1985, became one of the most recognised graphics in skating. Santa Cruz's wheel brand, Slime Balls, carries that heritage onto urethane, from hard street wheels to soft OG Slime cruisers and collaborations.
FAQs
What are Santa Cruz Screwballs wheels best for?
All-round skating with a lean toward the park. The 56mm size carries speed through bowls and transition, and hard 99a urethane slides cleanly and feels responsive on street.
What does 99a mean?
99a is a hard urethane on the A scale, the standard for street and park. It's fast on smooth concrete, slides easily on ledges and in powerslides, and feels responsive under your feet. It's a bit louder and rougher on crusty footpaths.
What size wheel should I get?
At 56mm these are a bigger street size that rolls faster and suits bowls, transition and rough ground. Most popsicle decks run them fine, but with loose trucks a 1/8" riser helps avoid wheelbite.
Do 56mm wheels need risers?
On most popsicle decks with standard trucks, no. If you run loose trucks or a low truck, a 1/8" riser helps prevent wheelbite when you lean hard in transition.
Do they come with bearings?
No, they're sold as a set of 4 wheels without bearings. You'll need 8 standard 608 skate bearings (2 per wheel), which fit every standard skateboard wheel.
