Ace AF1 44 Skateboard Trucks Raw Polished | 8.25" Pair
Ace's smooth turn, sized for 8.25" decks.
The Ace AF1 44 is Ace's flagship truck in its 8.25" size, finished in raw polished aluminium and sold as a pair. It's built for skaters on an 8.125" to 8.3" deck who want an all-rounder for street, park and a bit of transition.
Ace kept its original geometry and changed how the truck is made. The AF1 is cast from AA 356.2 alloy using Ace's own process, then True T6 heat-treated, with oversized SAE 4140 steel axles, rethreading axle nuts and machine-faced hanger ends for clean bearing contact. It rides at a mid 53mm height with Ace's smooth, easy turn and grinds well on ledges and coping.

- Rethreading axle nuts: clean up damaged axle threads as you tighten

What Size Board Does It Fit?
Match the truck's axle width to your deck width, ideally within about 1/8" and no more than about 1/4" either side, so the wheels sit right under the edge of the board. Ace numbers its AF1 sizes rather than naming them by width, so use this chart.
| Ace AF1 size | Axle width | Best board width |
|---|---|---|
| 22 | 7.75" | 7.5"–8.0" |
| 33 | 8.0" | 7.75"–8.125" |
| 44 | 8.25" | 8.125"–8.3" |
| 55 | 8.5" | 8.3"–8.75" |
| 60 | 8.75" | 8.5"–9.0" |
| 66 | 9.0" | 8.75"–9.25" |
| 77 | 9.5" | 9.25"–9.75" |
| 80 | 10.0" | 9.75" and up |
Sitting between two sizes? Go narrower for flip tricks and street, wider for stability in bowls and transition.
About Ace Trucks
Ace Trucks was founded in California in 2007 by Joey Tershay and Steve "Shrewgy" Ruge, with one goal: build the best performing skateboard trucks in skateboarding. Joey Pulsifer joined as a third partner in 2017.
Ace is known for its smooth, easy turn and clean, classic looks. In April 2021 it launched the AF1, cast with Ace's own process for a big jump in strength without changing the geometry riders already loved. Ace backs new trucks against manufacturing defects for their usable life to the original owner, which is a big part of why skaters trust them for street, park and bowl.
FAQs
What size board do the Ace AF1 44 trucks fit?
The AF1 44 has an 8.25" axle and fits decks from 8.125" to 8.3". Ace sizes its trucks by number, not width, so check the chart above if you're between sizes. A truck that matches your deck width keeps the wheels lined up with the edge of the board.
How tight should I set my Ace AF1 44 trucks?
Start with the kingpin nut snug, then loosen it a quarter turn at a time until the board turns easily without wobbling at speed. Ace trucks are known for a smooth, easy turn, so many skaters run them a little tighter than other trucks. Always leave at least two threads showing above the nut.
Do I need risers with the Ace AF1 44?
Usually not. At 53mm tall, they suit most street and park wheels up to about 56mm without risers. If you run bigger or softer wheels, or loose trucks that let the wheels touch the deck in hard turns, add a 1/8" riser and use 1/4" longer bolts.
Do these come as a pair?
Yes. You get two trucks, which is enough for one board. Ace trucks are often sold singly overseas, so check the listing when comparing.
What's the difference between Ace AF1 and Ace Classic trucks?
They share the same Ace geometry and turn. The AF1 is made with Ace's newer casting process and T6 heat treatment for a stronger hanger and baseplate, and adds oversized axles and rethreading axle nuts. Ace also updated the AF1 sizing on the 44 to 77 models for a better fit across board widths.
