How do you buy boots on sale without getting the fit wrong?
A discounted boot is only a good deal if it fits. The single rule that matters: do not size up for comfort, and do not let a good price tempt you into the wrong size just because it is the one on sale. A boot that does not fit is not a bargain, it is a return, or worse, a season of sore feet.
If the size you need in the model you want is on sale, that is a genuine win. If it is not, talk to us before settling for a size that is close but not right. We would rather point you to the correct fit at full price than sell you a discounted boot that does not work.
Why are these boots discounted?
Usually one of a few honest reasons: previous-season colours or models being cleared, end-of-season stock reduction, or a size run we are moving on. The boot itself is not lesser. A last-season boot is still an excellent boot, and snowboard boot technology does not change dramatically year to year, so a discounted prior-season model is often the smartest value buy in the shop.
Do the same fit rules apply to sale boots?
Exactly the same. Snug to slightly tight in the shop because the liner packs out about half a size, heel locked in with no lift, toes just brushing the end when you stand and pulling back when you flex forward. Sale or full price, the fit fundamentals do not change. For the full detail, see our boot fit guide.
Does sizing still run differently between brands on sale?
Yes, brand fit does not change with the price. ThirtyTwo runs true to size, Burton is slightly narrow in the heel box, K2 fits wider feet well. So a discounted boot in a brand you have not worn before still needs the same care, and it is worth a quick call before ordering online. If your foot is wide, look at our wide-fit boots rather than sizing up.
Can you still heat mould a sale boot?
Yes. Free heat moulding comes with every boot purchase, sale or not, done in our Richmond workshop. A discounted boot gets the same fitting service as a full-price one, footbed assessed and heel lift checked, so you leave with it fitted properly rather than just bought cheaply.
