Why Buy Your Electric Skateboard From Us
This is the part that matters most with electric, and the part cheap online sellers can't offer. An electric skateboard is a serious purchase with a battery, motors and electronics that need real support behind them. We are an authorised Australian dealer for the brands we carry, which means genuine product, valid manufacturer warranty, and no grey-import risk. More importantly, when something needs attention, Frosty's in-house workshop services and repairs electric boards in-house, 7 days rather than shipping your board overseas or turning you away. We hold stock and spare parts in Melbourne, we have demo boards you can actually try, and we have been doing this since 2015. Buying local, from people who ride and repair these boards, is the single biggest difference between a great ownership experience and an expensive paperweight.
The Brands We Carry
-
Evolve: Australian-designed, the benchmark for all-terrain performance and versatility. Swappable wheels take you from street to off-road on one board.
-
Onewheel: the self-balancing single wheel — the closest thing to snowboarding or surfing on any surface.
-
Summerboard: a binding-based, full-motion carve experience no other board delivers.
-
Onsra: belt-drive performance boards with a focus on deep carve and premium components.
How to Choose an Electric Skateboard
The right board comes down to how and where you'll ride. The key things to weigh up:
-
Motor power & hills: Melbourne is hilly. Motor wattage and torque decide whether your board climbs confidently or struggles. All-terrain and dual-belt setups handle inclines best.
-
Range: claimed range is measured in ideal conditions. Real-world range depends on rider weight, hills, speed and temperature — expect meaningfully less than the headline number. Buy more range than you think you need.
-
Wheels & terrain: street wheels for smooth paths and commuting; all-terrain (AT) wheels for rough ground, gravel and grass. Some boards (like Evolve) swap between both.
-
Ride feel: a traditional four-wheel deck, a self-balancing Onewheel, and a full-motion Summerboard are completely different experiences. Come try them.
-
Speed & ride modes: good boards have beginner-through-expert modes that cap speed and acceleration as you learn.
Our How to Choose an Electric Skateboard guide walks through all of this in detail.
Range & Real-World Performance
The single most misunderstood spec in electric skateboards is range. Manufacturer figures are best-case — light rider, flat ground, moderate speed, warm battery. Add Melbourne hills, a heavier rider, cold mornings or full-throttle riding and real range drops, sometimes by a third or more. The same applies to top speed: hitting it depends on conditions and rider weight. We'd rather tell you the honest real-world number than the box figure, so ask us what to actually expect from any board.
Battery Care & Safety
Look after the battery and a quality board lasts years. The essentials: charge with the supplied charger, avoid storing the board fully flat or fully charged for long periods (around half charge is ideal for storage), don't leave it charging unattended overnight, and keep it out of extreme heat. Lithium batteries are safe when treated properly and bought from a reputable source — which is exactly why genuine product and local support matter. If a battery ever shows warning signs, bring it to us rather than riding on.
Australian Road Rules
Electric skateboard and rideable laws in Australia vary by state and territory, and the rules around where you can legally ride (private land, paths, roads) are different from e-bikes and do change. Before you ride, check the current rules for your state. If you're unsure how the rules apply to a board you're considering, talk to us — we'll give you the honest picture.
Service, Repairs & Warranty
Every electric board we sell is backed by Frosty's in-house workshop, open 7 days, handling servicing, repairs, spare parts and warranty support right here in Richmond. That's the difference between buying from a core shop and buying from a box-mover. See our electric board & bike service and repairs page for what we offer.

Electric Skateboard FAQ
How far can an electric skateboard really go? Less than the claimed figure in most real conditions. Manufacturer range is best-case; Melbourne hills, rider weight and cold weather all reduce it. Tell us your commute and we'll recommend a board with genuine range to cover it.
Can an electric skateboard climb hills? Good ones, yes — motor power and torque are the deciding factors. All-terrain and dual-belt boards handle Melbourne's hills best. We'll match a board to your terrain.
Are they hard to learn? Most boards have beginner ride modes that cap speed and smooth out acceleration, so you can build confidence safely. A Onewheel has a different learning curve to a four-wheel board — come try both.
Do you service electric skateboards? Yes — Frosty's in-house workshop services, repairs and handles warranty for the boards we sell, 7 days a week from our Richmond store.
Can I try before I buy? Yes — we keep demo boards at the Richmond showroom. For a purchase this size, we recommend it.
