The Burton Story
Jake Burton Carpenter founded Burton Snowboards in 1977, working out of a barn in Londonderry, Vermont, building boards by hand and convincing ski resorts to even allow this new sport on their slopes. More than any other person, Jake is the reason snowboarding exists as it does today — he spent decades fighting to get boards on mountains, riders into competition, and snowboarding into the Olympics. Burton has been at the centre of the sport ever since, sponsoring the riders and shaping the technology that defines modern snowboarding.
