Jones Orion Snowboard Binding | White Glacier Frost | 2026

Play Hard. Carve Clean. Go Everywhere.

The Jones Orion is the binding for riders who want to do everything — charge groomers in the morning, hit side hits and natural features on the way down, and still have enough energy and precision left to put together a proper lap through the park. It sits at a medium flex (3/5) in Jones's lineup, positioned between the softer Meteorite and the stiffer Mercury, and that middle ground is genuinely the sweet spot for all-mountain riders who want playful response without sacrificing carving performance. The White Glacier Frost colourway brings a clean, premium look that works with any board graphic without fighting for attention. Available in Medium and Large in this colourway.

The Orion runs on Jones's Skate Tech system, co-developed with NOW Bindings — a baseplate design that works like a skateboard truck, with a hanger that pivots on a kingpin to transfer energy directly to your edges rather than through a rigid centre disk. The mechanical advantage of this pivot-and-lever system delivers faster, more direct edge-to-edge response than traditional baseplate designs, with built-in rubber bushing dampening that absorbs vibrations on variable snow without killing board feel. The Progressive Flex highback is stiffer at the base for solid carving performance and softer at the top for freestyle-friendly ankle flex, letting you tweak grabs and ride switch without fighting your gear. Comfort Flex ankle straps are 3D moulded to distribute pressure evenly and are Flip-It compatible — swap between Freeride mode for locked-in response or Surf mode for a looser, more dynamic feel.

Binding Size Guide
The Orion is available in Medium and Large in the White Glacier Frost colourway. Use the official Jones size chart below to find your size based on boot size.

Size US Men's Boot EU Mondo
Medium 7.5 – 10.0 40 – 43 25.5 – 28.0
Large 10.5+ 43.5+ 28.5+

If you wear a US 10 or 10.5 you're right at the Medium/Large overlap. Boot sole stiffness is the key factor here — stiffer soles (like those on more aggressive freeride boots) work well in the Medium at that size; softer, more flexible boot soles benefit from the additional binding platform of the Large. Call us on 03 9421 2293 or come into the store at 435A Bridge Rd Richmond and we'll help you decide.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I choose between Medium and Large — especially if I wear a US 10 or 10.5?
The Jones size chart puts US 7.5–10 in Medium and US 10.5+ in Large, but US 10 and 10.5 riders often wonder whether to size up. The main factors are boot sole stiffness and overhang. If your boot sole is firm and structured, a Medium at US 10 will strap in securely without issue. If your boot has a more flexible, softer sole, the Large gives a more even pressure distribution across the binding platform and reduces the risk of pressure points under the arch. Boot length matters too — longer boots within a size can create more heel or toe overhang in a Medium. The safest approach is to come into the store with your boots so we can check the fit directly. Call us on 03 9421 2293 or visit at 435A Bridge Rd Richmond — getting binding sizing right is worth the five-minute conversation.

Will the Orion mount to my board?
Yes — the Orion's Universal Mounting Disk is compatible with all three major insert patterns: traditional 4x4 (used by most brands), 2x4 (Burton and others), and EST/The Channel (Burton boards with the Channel system). This means the Orion pairs with virtually any board on the market without needing additional adapter hardware. If you're unsure whether your specific board is compatible, call us on 03 9421 2293 and we can confirm before you order.

Is the Orion the right flex for my ability level and riding style?
The Orion's medium flex (3/5 on Jones's scale) makes it genuinely versatile across a wide range of riders and conditions. Beginners will find it forgiving enough to not fight them through turns; intermediates who want to progress across all terrain will find it responsive without being demanding; advanced riders with a freestyle-leaning, creative approach to the whole mountain will find it perfectly matched to side hits, tweaked grabs, switch riding, and playful freeride lines. Where the Orion is not the best choice: very aggressive, high-speed freeride riders or expert carvers who want maximum stiffness and precision will want to step up to the stiffer Mercury. And riders who prioritise pure park performance and a very soft, forgiving feel will be better served by the Meteorite below it. But for the vast majority of all-mountain riders — including strong intermediates and expert riders who like to play — the Orion hits the right balance. At Buller, Falls Creek, and Hotham, where you're moving between groomed corduroy, variable snow, and natural hits all in the same run, the Orion's medium flex genuinely earns its keep.

What is Skate Tech and why does it actually matter?
Skate Tech is the baseplate system Jones co-developed with NOW Bindings, and it works on a fundamentally different mechanical principle to every traditional binding on the market. A standard binding has a rigid baseplate bolted flat to the board — when you push into a turn, your energy travels through that fixed plate, bends the binding slightly, and then reaches the edge. Energy is concentrated at the centre of the board, and some of it is lost to the flex of the baseplate itself before it ever gets to where you need it. Skate Tech replaces the rigid plate with a hanger, kingpin, and post system — exactly like a skateboard truck. The hanger pivots on the kingpin like a lever, so when you apply pressure through a heel or toe turn, that force is transmitted directly to the edge of the board through the pivot. The mechanical advantage of the lever means more of your input becomes edge pressure, faster — which translates to quicker turn initiation, sharper edge hold, and a more connected, responsive feel underfoot. On flat base, the hanger rests on rubber bushings that absorb vibrations from rough or variable snow, so the board feels damper and more controlled without the binding interfering with natural board flex. You can also tune the feel by swapping the bushings — harder bushings for maximum response in Freeride mode, softer bushings in Surf mode for a looser, more dynamic feel. On Australian resort snow, where you're regularly dealing with variable hardpack, chopped-up groomers, and inconsistent conditions across the day, that combination of direct edge response and built-in dampening is a genuinely useful tool rather than a marketing claim.
