Carver Surfrider Cutdown Streetsurf Complete | C5 Cutdown 29"
1960s sidewalk surfing, Carver style.
The Surfrider Cutdown was inspired by the narrow sidewalk surfers of the 1960s and the barefoot groms who carved down smooth hills on them. Carver cut its C5 trucks down to 4" and trimmed a street deck to match, then made a limited, hand-built batch in its in-house machine shop.
At 29" x 7.75" with a 15.5" wheelbase it's narrow, nimble and old school. 65mm Roundhouse Slicks in Green Glo give it a smooth, grippy roll for cruising and carving.

About Carver Skateboards
Carver Skateboards was founded in 1996 in Venice, California, by surfers Neil Stratton and Greg Falk. They wanted a board that felt like surfing on land, so they built the C7: a front truck on a pivoting swing arm that lets the board pump and carve like a surfboard on a wave. That truck started the surfskate category, and Carver calls it the original surfskate.
Around 2005 Carver added the CX, a lighter, snappier reverse-kingpin truck that became its most popular system. Three decades on, Carver still designs out of Culver City, California, and works with surf names like Channel Islands, ...Lost, Kai Lenny and Yago Dora. Surfers around the world use Carvers to train between sessions, and plenty of skaters ride them simply because carving a Carver is that much fun.
FAQs
What is a surfskate?
A surfskate is a skateboard with a special front truck that pivots and turns much further than a normal truck. That lets you pump the board (generate speed by twisting your body, like on a wave) and carve tight, surf-style turns without pushing. Surfers use them to train turns and timing on land, and skaters ride them for the flow. Carver's C7, released in 1996, is widely regarded as the original surfskate truck.
Is a 29" surfskate the right size for me?
At 29" long and just 7.75" wide, this is a narrow, old-school sidewalk-surfer shape. It suits kids, smaller riders and anyone after a light, nimble board for carving and cruising. Bigger riders, or anyone wanting a wider platform and a fuller surf feel, are better on a 9.75"+ wide CX board such as a 30"–31" surfskate.
Is this a good surfskate for beginners?
Yes, especially for kids and lighter riders. The C5 is compact and low, so the board feels nimble and easy to control. Heavier adult riders, or anyone chasing a full surf-style pump and carve, are usually better suited to a CX board. Start on flat, smooth ground and build up from there.
What's the difference between Carver CX, C7 and C5 trucks?
CX is Carver's most popular truck: a reverse-kingpin design that's lighter, snappier and more stable at speed, so it's the best all-rounder and the one we recommend for most riders and for skateparks. C7 is the original 1996 swing-arm truck, with a smoother, longer, more flowing surf feel; riders chasing a pure surf-training feel often prefer it. C5 is compact and lower, with an 8.5" axle, made for smaller boards, kids and lighter riders. CX and C7 completes run a C2 rear truck, and C5 completes run a C4 rear.
Can I cruise or commute on it?
Yes, for short trips around the neighbourhood, to the beach or the shops. Once you can pump you'll cover flat ground with very little pushing. Surfskates are built for carving, so they feel looser than a cruiser at speed; for long, flat commutes a longboard or cruiser is more efficient. The 65mm Slicks are a touch firmer than Carver's 78a wheels, so they roll fast on smooth footpaths and feel a little livelier on rough ones.
Does it come ready to ride?
Yes. It arrives fully assembled with griptape, Carver trucks, wheels and ABEC 7 bearings installed. Just check the bushings feel right for your weight and go surf the street.

Simply put, a surfskate is a skateboard for surfing the street. Surfskates use special trucks that enable riders to mimic the movements, feel, and flow of surfing. Surfskates were originally invented by surfers who wanted something to do on flat days. As time has passed, surf skating has proven to be one of the most enduring passions of skaters and surfers alike. Whether you love to skate or surf, surfskating is the closest experience you can get to gliding down and carving a wave.
