My heel lifts in every boot. Can that be fixed?

Often, yes. Heat moulding shapes the liner to your foot and dramatically improves heel hold, which solves or significantly reduces most heel lift. If it persists, the last shape is wrong for your foot rather than the size, and a different brand will fix it. K2 is worth trying for heel slip.

Should I size down half a size?

When in doubt, yes. The liner compresses over time, so a boot that feels slightly snug in store packs out to a comfortable fit after a few sessions, while one that feels comfortable in store will feel sloppy once it has packed out.

Can I buy boots online, or do I need to come in?

You can buy online, and we recommend coming into the Richmond store before the season to get them heat moulded free. If you cannot get in, use our brand-specific size guides or call us, because sizing varies between brands.

Which brand should I try if nothing has ever fitted me?

Nitro, before you give up on the category. It is one of the best-fitting boots on the market and the Team is a perennial all-mountain favourite. For narrow feet or heel slip specifically, K2 is the stronger starting point.

How long does heat moulding take and what should I bring?

Twenty to thirty minutes, and bring thick snowboard socks so the fit is moulded around what you actually ride in. It is free with every boot we sell.

Is a more expensive liner actually worth it?

If you ride hard and often, yes. Higher-end boots use custom moulding systems or thicker liner foam that holds its shape across multiple seasons, which affects how the boot performs for its whole life rather than just the first season.

What do I do if my toes press on the sides?

That is a width problem, not a length one, so do not size up. Several brands offer wide-fit versions of their key models on a wider last. Come in and we will match you to the right last width.

Snowboard Boots

Your boots are the most important piece of gear in your snowboard setup — more than the board, more than the bindings. A poorly fitting boot transmits every inefficiency straight to your riding: foot pain ends your day early, heel lift kills your edge control, and the wrong size frustrates you no matter how good the board underneath is. Get the boots right and everything else improves. We stock the full current-season range from Burton, K2, ThirtyTwo, Nitro, Salomon and DC at our Richmond showroom, heat moulded free with every purchase, with free shipping Australia-wide on orders over $90.
