Z-Flex Jay Adams Cruiser Metal Flake Gold | 29.0"
Gold flake, Dogtown roots, everyday roll.
The Jay Adams Cruiser in Metal Flake Gold puts a gold metallic fleck through the graphic, a nod to the hot-rod paint jobs of Venice Beach in the Z-Boys era. Underneath it's Z-Flex's classic 29" cruiser, a long-running shape built for skaters of any level who want a compact board with plenty of style.
The 7-ply deck rides on 5" powder-coated Z-Flex trucks with soft 90A cushions and 14mm riser blocks. Soft 63mm x 39mm Z-Smooth wheels give a quiet, smooth roll on most concrete, so it's an easy board for daily trips and surf checks. The kicktail and short wheelbase keep it nimble around people and obstacles.

About Z-Flex
Z-Flex is one of skateboarding's original brands. It was started in 1976 by Kent Sherwood, Jay Adams's stepfather, a fibreglass craftsman who had been building boards for the Zephyr team in Dogtown, the Santa Monica and Venice Beach stretch of the California coast. When Sherwood split from Zephyr he took Jay Adams and a handful of Z-Boys with him under the name EZ-Ryder, and within six months the brand became Z-Flex.
Z-Flex lays claim to the first skateboard with a concave top and to a smoother-riding wheel that helped shape the soft wheels most riders use today. Its current range still draws straight from that history: the P.O.P, Ruins to Roses, Banana Train, Surf-a-gogo and Aragon Cheetah series all take their stories from Pacific Ocean Park and the Dogtown scene. Riders choose Z-Flex for easy-riding cruisers, longboards and surfskates with real heritage, set up to be fun from the first push.
FAQs
What is the Z-Flex Jay Adams Cruiser Metal Flake Gold best for?
Everyday cruising. It's a compact, smooth-rolling board for trips to the shops, the station or the beach, with a standout gold flake finish. The soft wheels and riser blocks make rough footpaths far more comfortable than on a street skateboard.
Is a 29" cruiser the right size for me?
It suits most teens and adults who want a compact board that's still easy to stand on. At 29.5" long and 7.5" wide with a 15.75" wheelbase, the Metal Flake Gold is small enough to carry onto a tram but roomy enough for relaxed cruising. If you want more width for bigger feet, look at a 31" Z-Flex 80s board, and if you want something smaller for a backpack, the 27" range is the pick.
Is the Metal Flake Gold good for beginners?
Yes. The 29" Z-Flex shape is designed for all levels, and the soft 83A wheels and 90A cushions make it stable and forgiving. It's an easy board to learn to push, carve and foot-brake on.
Cruiser vs skateboard: what's the difference?
A cruiser is built for rolling, not flip tricks. The Metal Flake Gold runs soft 63mm 83A Z-Smooth wheels on riser blocks, so it's smoother, quieter and grippier on rough footpaths than a street skateboard's small hard wheels. The shape is made for comfortable pushing and carving, with a kicktail for kick turns and getting up kerbs.
Can I commute on the Metal Flake Gold?
Yes, for shorter commutes. The soft 63mm wheels roll well over most footpaths and the deck is easy to carry onto a tram or train. If your ride is long or on very rough roads, a longboard with 69mm wheels will be more relaxed.
Does it come ready to ride?
Yes. It arrives fully assembled with griptape, trucks, wheels and bearings installed. Just check the truck tightness suits you and go ride.
