YES PYL Snowboard | 2027

Freeride Royalty

The YES PYL 2027 is a modern freeride icon — a shape refined over years of big mountain exploration and widely regarded as one of the best freeride outlines in snowboarding. Built for chasing powder, committing to steep lines, and navigating technical terrain with authority, the PYL blends precision stability with surprising agility. It's a board that feels composed at speed but still alive enough to slash, air, and freestyle natural features when the opportunity presents itself.

The PYL maintains a more traditional length and width philosophy — designed to be ridden at standard freeride length without the need to size way up, while still delivering maximum float and directional drive. Tapered UnderBite is what makes it unique: each side of the effective edge is segmented into three distinct parts that step horizontally inward. Unlike traditional tapered boards that pull the full sidecut toward the tail and cause washout under hard carving, Tapered UnderBite corrects this by increasing sidecut depth toward the tail — creating a hook that improves grip and release simultaneously. You get the float of a tapered board without losing edge hold.

The CamRock profile delivers strong camber control underfoot with rocker at the nose and tail for float and forgiveness. A 10mm setback keeps the nose riding high in deep snow. The Fluid Core uses lightweight poplar-blend construction engineered for consistent flex and natural dampening — keeping the board smooth and composed through variable and chopped-up terrain. Freestyle I Glass Reinforcement places carbon fiber stringers in an I-shape from the insert pack to the tip, enhancing nose stiffness, torsional response, and stability at speed. Forever Flex manufacturing stabilises the flex and rocker profile for the board's lifetime.

Tapered UnderBite Technology
Standard tapered boards pull the full sidecut toward the tail — which improves powder float but causes the tail to wash out under hard carving. Tapered UnderBite solves this by segmenting each side of the effective edge into three distinct parts that step horizontally inward rather than simply tapering. Each zone has a progressively tighter sidecut radius moving toward the tail, creating a corrective hook that increases grip precisely where washout normally occurs. The result: the directional float of a tapered board, the edge hold of a non-tapered board, and a surfy, slashable tail release that makes the PYL feel alive at any speed.

Board Specs

Size Waist Width (cm) Sidecut (m) Taper (mm) Rider Weight (kg) Rider Weight (lbs)
156 25.0 7.6 / 6.7 / 5.8 5.5 55–80 121–176
159 25.3 7.8 / 6.9 / 6.0 5.6 60–85 132–187
160W 26.0 7.8 / 6.9 / 6.0 5.5 67–92 147–202
162 25.5 7.95 / 7.05 / 6.15 5.6 65–90 143–198
164W 26.5 7.95 / 7.05 / 6.15 5.3 72–98 158–216
165 25.8 8.1 / 7.2 / 6.3 5.6 70–99+ 154–218+

The three sidecut radii listed per size are the Tapered UnderBite triple-radius values — note from nose to tail, the radius progressively tightens to create the corrective hook. W sizes feature a wider waist for riders with US 10.5+ boots or those who prefer reduced toe/heel overhang.

Sizing Tip
The YES PYL is designed to be ridden at your regular freeride length — you don't need to size up like you would on a powder-specific shape. The Tapered UnderBite geometry and 10mm setback do the work that extra length normally would. Choose your standard all-mountain length for a more nimble, versatile ride; size up slightly if you prioritise maximum float and stability on longer, faster lines and open big mountain terrain.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between the YES PYL and the YES All In?
Both are directional boards with a 6/10 flex, but they serve completely different freeride intentions. The All In is a Directional Twin — centred stance, twin-like feel, built for all-mountain versatility including park and groomer laps. The PYL is a dedicated directional freeride shape with a 10mm setback, traditional directional nose-to-tail profile, and Tapered UnderBite sidecut built specifically for powder float, steep terrain, and high-speed stability. The All In can do everything including the park; the PYL is purpose-built for the days when you're pointing it into committed freeride territory. If you're building a two-board quiver the PYL pairs perfectly with a freestyle or all-mountain board for resort days.

About Yes Snowboards

It all began back in 2008 when Romain de Marchi (RDM) was widely regarded as the most explosive snowboarder on the planet, having successfully mastered Chad's gap and introducing big freestyle tricks into the backcountry. Jan Petter Solberg (JPS) was also pushing the boundaries of freestyle in the backcountry, while David Carrier Porcheron (DCP) was busy exploring and discovering new hits and lines across the British Columbia backcountry. These three influential figures were revolutionizing the world of snowboarding, inspiring generations of riders to come. However, their reign at the top was cut short when the 2008 global financial crisis hit, leading to the dissolution of the UnInc program they had built, and subsequently losing their board sponsor. At the time, Obama was running for president with the famous slogan "YES WE CAN", and this message resonated with the trio as they proposed the idea of building a new snowboard brand. Despite facing discouragement and skepticism from others, they were determined to make it happen. They approached the Nidecker brothers and eventually produced their first boards, which were hand-painted with the phrase "YES WE CAN." Thus Yes. Snowboards were created.
