Spitfire F4 Radial Wheels | 93D/54mm

Spitfire F4 Radial Wheels | 93D/54mm

Softer 93D Radials: a smoother ride on crusty ground that still slides.

This is the Formula Four Radial in Spitfire's softer 93D duro. It's for street skaters who ride rough, crusty spots and want a smoother, quieter wheel that still breaks loose when they need it to.

The Radial shape has round edges on a medium-width riding surface for control, speed and a responsive slide. Formula Four's anti-stick slide is the key here: the softer 93D duro soaks up cracks and rough concrete without feeling grabby.

About Spitfire

Spitfire Wheels started in San Francisco in 1987 and is still based there today, distributed through Deluxe alongside some of the city's best-known skate brands. The flame logo has been on the bottom of street, park and bowl setups ever since.

Today Spitfire is best known for Formula Four, its performance urethane built to resist flat spots, hold its shape and slide smoothly without sticking. It comes in a wide spread of shapes and hardnesses, from soft 80HD cruisers to hard 101D park wheels, so you can match the wheel to how and where you skate. Riders choose Spitfire because the wheels are consistent from set to set and simply last.

FAQs

What are the Spitfire F4 Radial 93D 54mm wheels best for?
Rough, crusty street spots. 93D smooths out bad ground while Formula Four keeps the slide. The Radial has round edges on a medium-width riding surface. Spitfire describes it as the versatility of the Classic with the width of a Conical, giving you control, speed and a responsive slide.

What does 93D mean?
Spitfire rates hardness on its own Duro scale, written D or DU, and doesn't publish a conversion. Retailers generally list it on the A scale, so 93D is usually listed as 93A. It's noticeably softer than 99D, so it soaks up cracks, crust and rough concrete, but Formula Four's anti-stick slide means it still breaks loose for slides and grinds.

What size wheel should I get, and do I need risers?
54mm is the all-rounder size. It's big enough to hold speed in the park and roll over rougher ground, but still light for street. Most standard trucks run 54mm wheels without risers.

Do they come with bearings?
No. They come as a set of four wheels without bearings. Any standard 608 skate bearing fits, so you'll need a set of eight bearings, and spacers if your bearings don't have them built in.
