Spitfire F4 Conical Full Wheels | 97D/54mm

Spitfire F4 Conical Full Wheels | 97D/54mm

Wide, grippy and a little softer: the 54mm Conical Full in 97D.

The Conical Full in 97D is for skaters who want the stability of a wide wheel with a slightly softer, smoother ride. At 54mm it handles street and park, and it's a great choice if your local spots are rough.

The wide riding surface gives plenty of grip, and the cut-in sidewalls keep weight down. The 97D Formula Four takes a little edge off rough ground compared with 99D, but it still resists flat spots and slides smoothly.

• Conical Full shape: wide riding surface with cut-in sidewalls, solid and controllable on all terrain

About Spitfire

Spitfire Wheels started in San Francisco in 1987 and is still based there today, distributed through Deluxe alongside some of the city's best-known skate brands. The flame logo has been on the bottom of street, park and bowl setups ever since.

Today Spitfire is best known for Formula Four, its performance urethane built to resist flat spots, hold its shape and slide smoothly without sticking. It comes in a wide spread of shapes and hardnesses, from soft 80HD cruisers to hard 101D park wheels, so you can match the wheel to how and where you skate. Riders choose Spitfire because the wheels are consistent from set to set and simply last.

FAQs

What are the Spitfire F4 Conical Full 97D 54mm wheels best for?
Rough street spots and parks where you want grip and a smoother ride without losing slide. The Conical Full is a wider version of Spitfire's Conical. The riding surface is wide for stability and grip, and the sidewalls are cut in to keep weight down, so it feels solid and controllable everywhere.

What does 97D mean?
Spitfire rates hardness on its own Duro scale, written D or DU, and doesn't publish a conversion. Retailers generally list it on the A scale, so 97D is usually listed as 97A, a step softer than the classic 99D. You get a touch more grip and a smoother, quieter ride on rough ground, while still keeping Formula Four's clean slide.

What size wheel should I get, and do I need risers?
54mm is the all-rounder size. It's big enough to hold speed in the park and roll over rougher ground, but still light for street. Most standard trucks run 54mm wheels without risers.

Do they come with bearings?
No. They come as a set of four wheels without bearings. Any standard 608 skate bearing fits, so you'll need a set of eight bearings, and spacers if your bearings don't have them built in.
