ProTec Street Knee Pads Black
Low-profile, flexible knee pads for street, park and learning tricks.
The Pro-Tec Street Knee is the low-profile knee pad skaters have trusted for years. It's flexible enough to forget you're wearing it, with a hard cap that lets you slide out of a slam. It's made for street, park, learning new tricks and cruising, and works for scooters, BMX and rollerskating too.
A curved hard cap sits over two-ply anatomical EVA foam with thick and thin zones that lock around your knee. The outer is ballistic nylon to resist tears, perforated neoprene adds airflow, and a Lycra stretch interior and upper and lower straps keep it in place.

Size Guide
Pro-Tec sizes its Street knee pads on two leg measurements. Stand with your leg straight and wrap a soft tape around your thigh about 10cm (4") above the centre of your knee, then around your calf about 10cm below it. Match both numbers to the chart. Pro-Tec's chart is in inches; we've converted to cm.
| Size | Above knee (10cm above centre) | Below knee (10cm below centre) | Inches (above / below) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Youth | 23–28cm | 17–20cm | 9–11" / 6.5–8" |
| S | 30–36cm | 23–28cm | 12–14" / 9–11" |
| M | 38–43cm | 28–33cm | 15–17" / 11–13" |
| L | 46–51cm | 36–41cm | 18–20" / 14–16" |
| XL | 53–58cm | 43–48cm | 21–23" / 17–19" |
If your two measurements land in different sizes, go with the below-knee number so the lower strap holds the cap over your knee. Slide-on pads go on over your foot, so put them on before your shoes.
About Pro-Tec
Pro-Tec has been protecting skaters since 1973 and is one of the most recognisable names in skate and BMX protection. Its Street pads have been around for decades and are still the pad most skaters picture when they think of knee and elbow pads. Pro-Tec says its Street elbow is the pad used by Bucky Lasek, Christian Hosoi and Lincoln Ueda, and its team list runs from Steve Caballero and Steve Alba to Sakura Yosozumi and Australia's own Poppy Starr Olsen, with snowboard legend Todd Richards on the snow side.
Today Pro-Tec is known for no-fuss protection that does the job: tough nylon outers, plastic caps and EVA foam on the Street range, heavier ballistic builds with replaceable caps on the Vert range, and slim neoprene wrist guards for snowboarding. Riders choose Pro-Tec because it fits well, lasts and has been part of skate culture for over 50 years.
FAQs
What size Pro-Tec Street Knee Pads should I get?
Measure around your thigh 10cm above the knee and your calf 10cm below it, then match both to the chart. A 38–43cm above-knee and 28–33cm below-knee measurement is a Medium. The pad should feel snug and stay put when you bend your leg.
Should I wear knee pads over or under my pants?
The Street Knee is low profile, so most riders wear it under loose jeans or pants. Wearing it on bare skin with a sleeve over the top keeps it from twisting. Over the pants works too if you tighten the straps.
Are hard cap knee pads better than soft pads?
For skating, yes. A hard cap lets you knee slide out of a bail instead of grabbing the ground, and it spreads the impact. Soft pads are quieter and lower profile but grip the surface.
How do I wash Pro-Tec knee pads?
Pro-Tec doesn't publish care instructions for these. Hand wash in cool water with mild soap, rinse and air dry out of the sun. Skip the dryer, which can shrink the straps and harden the foam.
When should I replace my knee pads?
Replace them when the cap cracks or wears through, the foam feels flat, or the straps stop holding. EVA compresses with hard hits over time, so thin-feeling pads aren't cushioning like new ones.

Why Buy from Twelve Board Store
Twelve Board Store has been riders selling to riders since 2013. We are not a generic retail chain — we are a specialist board sports retailer built around genuine product knowledge, real rider experience and the kind of after-sales support that only comes from a team that actually uses the gear they sell.
Every brand we stock, we ride. Every recommendation we make comes from real experience — on the mountain, in the park, on the street, and on the road. When you call us, you talk to someone who has been on a snowboard at Hotham last weekend or a skateboard in the carpark this morning. That is the difference between buying from Twelve and buying from a warehouse with a website.
We offer services that no online-only retailer can match. Our in-store workshop handles snowboard waxing and tuning, boot heat moulding, electric skateboard and e-bike repairs and assembly, and warranty support handled in-house rather than shipped offshore to a call centre. If something goes wrong with your gear, we fix it. If your boots don't fit, we sort it. If you ordered the wrong size, we swap it — no questions asked.
Our showroom at 435A Bridge Road Richmond stocks the full range across snowboards, bindings, boots, skateboards, longboards, electric skateboards, e-bikes, outerwear and accessories. We offer free shipping Australia-wide on orders over $89, AfterPay and Zip for flexible payment, and fast dispatch so your gear arrives when you need it.
Over a decade in business. More than 1,000 reviews. The most trusted specialist board store in Melbourne. If you need advice before you buy, call us on 03 9421 2293, visit us in-store, or contact us online — we'll get you sorted.
