About Powell Peralta

Powell Peralta was founded in 1978 by engineer George Powell and skater Stacy Peralta in Santa Barbara, California. Powell had already been baking his own urethane wheels and building his own boards since the mid 1970s, and in 1979 the pair formed the Bones Brigade, the team that included Ray "Bones" Rodriguez, Steve Caballero, Tony Hawk, Lance Mountain, Rodney Mullen, Tommy Guerrero and Mike Vallely.

Today Powell Peralta still puts a big focus on urethane research and its own wheel formulas. Dragon Formula covers street and park, while Soft Slide Formula (SSF) covers cruising, freeride and downhill. What are G-Slide wheels best for?
Riding rough streets on a regular skateboard. They're soft enough to smooth out bad bitumen but small enough to keep your deck low, and SSF urethane means they still slide. Great for commuting, transition cruising and mellow slides.

What does 85a mean?
85a is the hardness on the A scale. Lower numbers are softer and grippier, higher numbers are harder and slidier, and most street wheels sit around 99a to 101a. At 85a these G-Slides soak up cracks and rough bitumen, while the SSF urethane still lets them break into a slide.

Will 56mm wheels fit my board or do I need risers?
Most popsicle decks run 56mm wheels without risers on mid or high trucks. On low trucks, add a 1/8" riser to avoid wheel bite in hard turns. They're also a fine size for small cruisers.

Do they come with bearings?
No. You get a set of 4 wheels with no bearings. Any standard 608 skateboard bearing fits, so you'll need a set of 8 (two per wheel), plus spacers if your bearings don't have them built in.
