Landyachtz Drop Hammer Longboard | Black Eagle — 35"
Landyachtz Drop Hammer in Black Eagle. 35" x 10" 7-ply Canadian maple, medium flex, drop-through mounting, rocker, 180mm Polar Bear trucks, 73mm 78a Plow King wheels, Spaceball bearings. The ideal first longboard — and the board you keep riding long after you stop being a beginner.
The Drop Hammer is the longboard that Landyachtz built for everyone. Symmetrical shape, drop-through truck mounting, and just the right amount of flex — a setup that lowers the platform close to the ground, makes pushing effortless, and keeps the ride stable and predictable from the very first session. Whether you're commuting, cruising campus, carving down a mellow hill, or just getting comfortable on a board for the first time, the Drop Hammer handles all of it without demanding anything from the rider that they're not ready to give. The Black Eagle colourway features artwork by illustrator Andreas Preis — bold, detailed eagle illustration that makes this one of the most visually striking colourways in the Drop Hammer range.
The 180mm Polar Bear traditional kingpin trucks are set up specifically for this shape — running lower and with a slower, more controlled turn than reverse kingpin longboard setups, which suits a beginner-friendly board that prioritises stability and confidence over aggressive carving response. The medium flex 7-ply Canadian maple absorbs vibration from rough pavement and adds comfort on longer sessions without becoming unpredictable under weight shifts. The built-in rocker adjusts the deck angles to a more natural foot position, increasing comfort and control underfoot. The 73mm Plow King wheels are large enough to roll through cracks and rough pavement effortlessly and carry speed between pushes without the constant effort that smaller wheels demand. Spaceball bearings have washers and spacers built into the inner race — you can never lose them, and they're always correctly mated.
Landyachtz has been skater-owned and operated out of Vancouver, Canada since 1997. They design their own trucks, pour their own urethane through the Hawgs brand, source only the finest Eastern Canadian maple veneers, and plant a tree for every board sold through their One Board One Tree programme. The Drop Hammer has become their most popular longboard shape because it solves the beginner problem without condescending to the rider — it's a real board with real components that happens to be approachable for anyone stepping on a longboard for the first time.
Why Ride the Landyachtz Drop Hammer Black Eagle?
-
Drop-Through Truck Mounting
Trucks mounted flush through the deck lower the platform closer to the ground; makes pushing less effort, increases stability at speed, and reduces the tipping-over feeling that puts beginners off longboarding in the first two sessions. -
Symmetrical Shape
Go both ways without adjusting your stance; a versatile longboard shape that suits cruising, commuting, and learning to carve with equal confidence — no wrong end, no wrong direction. -
Rocker Deck Profile
Adjusts the deck angles to a more natural foot position; increases comfort on longer sessions and gives you more board control and responsiveness underfoot without requiring technical skill to feel the benefit. -
Medium Flex — 7-Ply Canadian Maple
Just enough flex to absorb vibration from rough pavement and add comfort over longer rides; stiff enough to remain stable and predictable under weight shifts — the flex spec matched to a board designed for daily cruising. -
180mm Polar Bear Traditional Kingpin Trucks
Wider trucks designed for the 10" deck; run lower and with a slower, more controlled turn than RKP setups — the stability-first truck configuration that makes this board forgiving and confidence-inspiring for newer riders. -
73mm Plow King Wheels
Large Hawgs cruiser wheels that roll through cracks, rough pavement, and everyday urban obstacles with ease; carries speed efficiently between pushes so you can cover more ground with less effort. -
Spaceball Bearings
Built-in washers and spacers mean you can never lose them; bearings are always correctly mated, eliminating bearing-induced chatter and keeping the roll smooth and consistent from the first push. -
Andreas Preis Artwork
Detailed eagle illustration by Berlin-based artist Andreas Preis — one of the most visually distinctive colourways in the Drop Hammer range, a board that earns a second look before you even step on it. -
One Board One Tree
Landyachtz plants a tree for every board sold — a skater-owned brand with a genuine environmental commitment behind every product they ship.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is the difference between a longboard and a cruiser skateboard?
A: A longboard is built for stability — longer distances, sweeping carves, and a planted ride. A cruiser is more compact and portable, with a kicktail for navigating urban terrain and tighter spaces. The choice comes down to how much board you want underfoot and where you're taking it. Not sure? Call us on 03 9421 2293 and we'll sort it out.
Q: What size should I choose?
A: Shorter boards are easier to carry and more manoeuvrable. Longer boards are usually wider, offering more stability and a surf-style feel underfoot. Go shorter for portability, longer for a more flowing and planted ride. Give us a call on 03 9421 2293 and we'll point you in the right direction.
