The Dinghy Classic Fender takes Landyachtz's most popular compact cruiser and adds moulded wheel flares, so it can run much bigger wheels without wheelbite. This is the Midnight Dip, with artwork by Sivan Karim on a white oak veneer. It suits riders who love the compact Dinghy size but want it to handle rougher roads and faster riding.

The 28.5" x 8" deck is 7-ply Canadian maple with medium concave, a kicktail and moulded flares that also give your feet more reference points. It rolls on 74mm Plow King GT wheels, the biggest in the Hawgs range, on 105mm Polar Bear trucks with Spaceball bearings. The big wheels roll through cracks and pebbles and hold speed, while the short deck stays agile in tight spaces.

About Landyachtz

Landyachtz was started in 1997 by childhood friends Tom Edstrand and Mike Perreten while they were studying at the University of Victoria in British Columbia, Canada. Their first production run was pressed in a ski racing shed at Blackcomb, near Whistler. The company then moved to North Vancouver, first into a family garage and then into shared space with Invasion Snowboards, and it was there Landyachtz developed its own Bear Trucks and Hawgs Wheels. Tom Edstrand went on to win the IGSA longboarding world championship in 2005.

Today Landyachtz is still skater owned and operated, based in the Strathcona neighbourhood of Vancouver. It designs its decks, trucks and wheels to work together as one complete, from compact Dinghy cruisers and surfskates to dancing boards and downhill freeride decks. Is the Dinghy Classic Fender good for beginners?
Yes. The big, soft wheels make it smooth and forgiving on rough ground, and it's easy to carry. The short wheelbase turns quickly, so take it slow at first, but most new riders get comfortable fast.

Cruiser vs skateboard: what's the difference?
A cruiser uses soft, grippy wheels and a shape built for getting around comfortably, while a standard skateboard uses small, hard wheels made for tricks on smooth surfaces. The Fender takes that further with 74mm wheels, so it rolls over rough footpaths that would stop a normal skateboard. It still has a kicktail for kerbs and quick turns.

Can I commute on the Dinghy Classic Fender?
