Bones Hardcore Barrel Bushings are barrel bushings for longboard trucks, with Skate One's patented bonded insert. This White/Red 88a set is for carving, cruising, freeride and downhill, and it's the team's favourite.

The bonded insert locks in your steering axis without any extra parts, so the bushing compresses top and bottom instead of stretching open like an elastic band. That cuts slop, smooths out the turn and adds stability, so you can run a softer bushing than usual. Zero break-in.

About Bones

Bones Bearings comes from George Powell, the engineer who co-founded Powell Peralta in 1978. In the early 1980s he went looking for a faster, tougher skateboard bearing and worked with a small Swiss manufacturer to build one for skating rather than for machinery. That bearing became Bones Swiss, and the thinking behind it became the Bones Skate Rated standard.

Today Bones Bearings is part of the Skate One family in Santa Barbara, California, alongside Powell Peralta and Bones Wheels. The range runs from everyday Reds through Super Reds, Big Balls and Race Reds up to ceramic and Swiss-made bearings, all built to Skate Rated clearances, tolerances, materials and lubricant. Who is 88a for?
Bones rates 88a for carving, cruising, freeride and downhill, and it's the team's favourite. Of the hardnesses we stock, 85a is medium soft (carving, cruising, quick steering), 88a is medium and the team's choice (carving, freeride, DH), 90a is medium firm (carving, freeride, DH) and 93a is hard (heavier riders, low-angle rear trucks).

Will they fit my trucks?
They fit longboard trucks that take standard bushings, like Aera, Paris, Caliber and Randal, and tall-bushing trucks with a shim. They don't fit street skateboard trucks.

How many do I need?
Two packs. Each pack has two bushings, enough for one truck.

What does the bonded insert do?
It locks the bushing to the steering axis, so the urethane compresses rather than squirming sideways. That means less slop, a smoother turn and more stability, so you can go a little softer than with normal barrels.
