The 2027 Lib-Tech Apex Orca II is the top of the line, ultra lightweight and snappy dream board for Travis Rice. Taking everything you love about the floaty, fun to ride Orca and adding a switch friendly power kink tail, you can have peace of mind when you need to ride out of sketchy situations or land a floaty back one switch or get the needed power and pop to bust a last second ollie over any obstacle in your way. With futuristic looking unidirectional carbon and the all new 'Anti Matter' 3-D tip and tail for less swing-weight, everyones favourite apex predator just evolved into its final form.
* Due to the volume shift on this board, we recommend you ride this board 3-6cm shorter than your normal board. *
Board Type: Freeride-Powder
Freeride snowboards are built for steeper, off-piste terrain. These boards are ideal for aggressive riding and usually for more advanced riders.
Powder snowboards are designed for deep snow. Generally these boards feature a directional shape with a tapered tail for better float and ease of riding.
Flex: 6/10 (1=soft, 10=stiff)
Offering a balanced blend of flexibility and stiffness, mid-flex boards are versatile and suitable for all-mountain riding. They provide enough responsiveness for carving while maintaining some forgiveness for playful or casual riding.
Ability Level: Advanced
Advanced snowboards are stiffer and more responsive, designed for high-speed control, precision riding, and handling challenging terrain or tricks.
Shape: Tapered Directional
A tapered directional snowboard features a shape where the tail is narrower than the nose, providing enhanced control and stability in deeper snow. This design improves floatation in powder and allows for smoother turns, making it ideal for freeride and backcountry riding. While it excels in one direction, the taper helps the board naturally guide you through challenging conditions.
Camber Type: Orca C2x Directional

Lengthened camber in the nose and tail with a shortened rocker in the nose offers extreme control, precision, and float all over the mountain.
Width: Standard
Standard width boards deliver exceptional edge-to-edge quickness and responsiveness while providing enough platform space for riders with average boot sizes.
Inserts: 2x4 Inserts
These offer a tighter hole pattern, allowing for more precise stance adjustments. They're common on modern boards and ideal for riders who want fine-tuned positioning and can be used with any binding with a standard or mini disk.
Board Construction
Topsheet: Eco Sublimated Bio Beans Topsheet
This topsheet is made using an eco-friendly sublimation and adhesive that are both strong and environmentally friendly.
Laminate: Unidirectional Carbon, 30° Carbon Mega X, Magnesium Techno Fiber Bands
Light and strong carbon fiber running tip to tail offering stiffness, pop, and power. The addition of 14 strands of Carbon fiber 30° creates a more torsionally rigid board and high magnesium contend glass fiber offers more tensile strength without being too heavy.
Core: TP - Techno Pop Construction Core

The lightest, most environmentally nice, and liveliest construction Lib Tech makes. Made of 30% Aspen, 25% Paulownia, and 45% Recycled PET Plastic Bottles.
Sidewall: Birch Internal, UHMW Sintered Sidewall
Durable, high-impact ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene. It delivers exceptional impact resistance, superior resilience, and a smooth, damped ride.
Base: Sintered Knife Cut Base
This base is made of a fast sintered material with a die-cut base to reduce waste.
Additional Features:
Seven strategically placed serrations along the edges of the board grip onto the snow and hold a strong edge in any condition.

By removing the edge around the nose and tail and replacing it with UHMW material, you no longer need to worry about running your nose and tail into objects and damaging the edge. This makes it easy to repair and reduce swing weight.
By tapering the tip and tail of the board you get a board that is lighter and offers less swing weight.
3-D carbon reinforced and spin weight reducing absence of material in the tip and tail.

FAQ
Advanced riders who want the lightest, snappiest version of the Orca. It's the top of the range: Lib Tech's TP Techno Pop core, unidirectional carbon and 30 degree Carbon Mega X for pop and torsional response, plus Anti-Matter tip and tail cut-outs to drop swing weight. It's built for steeper, off-piste terrain and aggressive riding. If you're progressing toward freeride, the standard Orca II is the more sensible starting point. The Apex is for riders who already know what they want from a powder board.
The core idea is the same: a volume-shifted, tapered directional powder board you ride 3 to 6cm shorter. The Apex adds a switch-friendly power kink tail, which helps when you need to ride out switch, land backwards or pop an ollie at the last second. It also runs a lighter carbon construction with the Anti-Matter tip and tail, so it's lighter and livelier underfoot. If you ride a lot of deep snow and want that extra pop and lower swing weight, it's worth it. If not, the Orca II does most of the job.
It's a freeride and powder board first, so it's at its best on a fresh day or in Japan and Canada. That said, Magne-Traction's seven serrations hold a strong edge on firm snow, and the camber zones in the Orca C2x Directional profile keep it controlled at speed. On an icy morning at Hotham or Thredbo it will carve, but you'll get the most out of what you've paid for on a powder trip or a big storm day at home.
We have it in 156cm and 159cm. Because it's volume-shifted, Lib Tech recommends riding it 3 to 6cm shorter than your normal board, so these sizes tend to suit bigger riders or anyone used to riding a long board. The extra width also helps with larger boots.
If you're unsure whether 156 or 159 suits you, or whether the Apex is the right Orca at all, call us on 03 9421 2293 or come into our Richmond store.
