Lib Tech Mayhem Sweetfish Snowboard | 2027

Surf It. Slash It. Send It.

The Lib Tech Mayhem Sweetfish 2027 is the definitive powder and freeride surfer, built for riders who want to turn every storm day into a wave session — tight trees, deep pillows, hidden stashes, and groomer trenches in between. Born from the collab between Matt Biolos of Lost Surfboards and snowboarder Austen Sweetin, the Sweetfish brings genuine surf-shaping DNA to snow in a way no standard directional board can replicate.

Featuring a directional fish tail shape, directional camber with early-rise nose, and medium-stiff flex, the Sweetfish offers the perfect mix of float, drive, and surfy pivot. Camber underfoot delivers edge hold and snap on hardpack, while the mild early-rise nose keeps the tip buoyant and catch-free through deep snow. A power kink in the tail loads and releases energy for snappy exits out of carved turns and stability through powder landings. The winged swallowtail reduces tail surface area so the board sinks and pivots effortlessly through soft snow — the shape detail that makes this board feel alive underfoot.

Original Power Construction pairs a 75% Aspen / 25% Paulownia core with a Triax/Biax fiberglass combo for a light, lively, poppy build across the whole board. UHMW sintered sidewalls wrap the outside while Birch internal sidewalls add pop and impact resistance. The Sintered Knife Cut base is fast, wax-hungry, and built for deep days. Every board is hand-shaped and finished by Mervin Manufacturing in the USA, with eco-sublimated artwork by Jim Zapala printed using an environmentally friendly process.

Why Ride the Lib Tech Mayhem Sweetfish?
✅ Matt Biolos x Austen Sweetin Collab Shape – Surf fish tail translated directly to snow by one of surfing's most respected shapers for a feel unlike anything else in the category
✅ Directional Camber with Early-Rise Nose – Camber underfoot for edge hold and pop, mild nose rocker for float and effortless turn initiation in powder
✅ Power Kink Tail – Loads and releases energy for snappier exits out of carves, more pop off natural features, and stability through deep snow landings
✅ Winged Swallowtail – Reduces tail surface area so the board sinks and pivots through soft snow — the secret behind that true surf fish feel on snow
✅ Medium-Stiff Flex (6–7/10) – Stiff enough to charge big terrain and trenched carves, with enough give for expressive, surfy play in soft snow
✅ Original Power Construction – 75% Aspen / 25% Paulownia core for a lightweight, lively, durable ride across the whole board
✅ Triax / Biax Fiberglass – Combined weave delivers consistent flex and lively, responsive snap from nose to tail
✅ Birch Internal + UHMW Sintered Sidewalls – Birch adds pop and durability; UHMW outer sidewalls are twice as sintered as industry standard for impact resistance and control
✅ Sintered Knife Cut Base – High-density UHMW, fast out of the box, highly wax-absorbent, and built tough for seasons of use
✅ 3" Setback Stance – Built-in setback across all sizes keeps the nose floating and the tail driving on deep days
✅ Eco Sublimated Poly Topsheet – Jim Zapala artwork printed using an environmentally friendly eco-sublimation process; lightweight, UV-resistant, and impact resistant
✅ Handmade in the USA – Every board hand-shaped and finished at Mervin Manufacturing, Sequim, Washington

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Sweetfish an everyday Aussie resort board or is it built for overseas trips?
Honest answer — it's your overseas weapon. The Sweetfish is purpose-built for deep, three-dimensional powder and the kind of conditions you're not finding at Buller on a random Wednesday. If you're heading to Japan, BC, or anywhere that actually gets buried, this is the board you want under your feet. Back home it's still a ripper on groomed days — the camber gives it real edge hold and it carves beautifully — but if Hotham is your only mountain, the Jones Mountain Twin or a similar all-mountain board will serve you better day-to-day. Buy the Sweetfish because you're going on a trip. Ride it everywhere once you get there.

What size should I ride?
Shorter than you think. Ride it 6–8cm down from your normal length — that's the whole point of the short-wide fish platform. More float for less board, faster pivot, lower swing weight. If you're normally on a 158, start at the 150 or 156. When in doubt, go shorter. The wide waist compensates for the lost length and keeps the board feeling planted and powerful, not skatey. Call us on 03 9421 2293 if you want to talk it through — sizing a fish correctly makes a massive difference to how it rides.

No Magne-Traction — should I be worried about edge hold?
Not on this one. The Sweetfish runs wide enough across all sizes — waists from 25.2cm to 27.2cm — that standard edges have plenty of contact to grip when you need them. Magne-Traction is a tool for narrower boards on firm snow; on a wide pow-oriented fish it's unnecessary and would actually change the flowing, surf-like feel the board is designed around. On groomed Aussie snow it grips fine. In the deep stuff it was never going to be the edges doing the work anyway.

Who is this board actually for?
Intermediate-to-expert riders who travel to ride powder and want a dedicated weapon rather than asking their all-mountain board to do a job it wasn't designed for. If you've been on a Japan trip and spent the whole time wishing your board floated better and pivoted faster — this is the answer. It rewards progressive, surfy riding and punishes anyone trying to ride it like a standard directional. If you're not confident on a directional board yet, get some runs in first. When you're ready, the Sweetfish will change how you think about powder days.

LIB TECH ORCA II & GOLDEN ORCA

Lib Tech 2027 Snowboard Collection

Lib Tech snowboards are built by Mervin Manufacturing in Sequim, Washington — the only major snowboard company still handmaking boards in the United States. While every other major brand shifted production to Asia, Lib Tech stayed. The result is tighter quality control, faster innovation, and boards built by the same riders who test them in the mountains of the Pacific Northwest. The 2027 Lib Tech range at Twelve Board Store includes the T-Rice Orca II, T.Rice Apex Orca II, T.Rice Golden Orca, Lib Rig, and DPR — covering everything from progressive all-mountain freeride to freestyle performance. Every board carries Lib Tech's patented Magne-Traction® edge technology, eco-responsible construction, and the handmade quality that only comes from the last snowboard factory still operating on American soil.
At Twelve Board Store we've been selling Lib Tech for over 20 years. Our team has ridden these boards in Australia and overseas — if you need help choosing the right board for your riding style, call us on 03 9421 2293 or visit us at 435A Bridge Road, Richmond.
