The Control Step On® is the boot for riders who are done fumbling with straps at the top of the run. DC has merged Burton's game-changing Step On® interface with the Control franchise's proven out-of-the-box comfort — so you get all the performance and fit quality the Control is known for, plus the ability to click in and go in seconds. The Dual Zone BOA® Fit System with H4 Coiler dials dials in your fit with precision, the Response Liner R2 with 3M™ Thinsulate™ insulation keeps things warm and responsive, and the eco-friendly IMPACT-ALG™ insole rounds out a boot that's genuinely on the leading edge of where snowboard boot technology is heading. At a 4/10 soft-medium flex, it's approachable and comfortable enough for intermediate riders while delivering real all-mountain capability. Dual Zone BOA® Fit System
Two independent H4 Coiler dials control the forefoot and ankle zones separately — push and turn to tighten, pull to release instantly. Lock the ankle down for heel hold and response while keeping the forefoot slightly looser for comfort through a long day, or dial both zones evenly for a fully wrapped feel from heel to toe. Both dials adjust on the fly with gloves or mittens on, and the H4 Coiler's high-capacity design means fewer clicks, faster adjustment, and consistent tension across the lace path. Step On® Outsole
Burton's Step On® interface is built directly into the outsole — three connection points (two at the toe, one at the heel) click into compatible Step On® bindings for an instant, secure connection with no straps to fasten. Step in, click, ride. Step out just as fast. The interface is solid and rattle-free underfoot, and the outsole is engineered specifically around the Step On® connection geometry for a reliable engagement every time.
Response Liner R2
The liner combines EVA memory foam with high-rebound heat-mouldable EVA — out of the box it already wraps the foot with a broken-in feel; heat mould it in-store or at home and it conforms precisely to your foot shape, eliminating pressure points and building a custom heel pocket. 3M™ Thinsulate™ insulation adds genuine warmth without bulk, keeping your feet comfortable on cold days and early-season missions. A 360° power strap wraps the liner around the ankle for additional support and structure, and anatomical latex J-bars are positioned at the heel to grip the liner against the shell and prevent heel lift throughout the day. An internal ankle harness connects liner to shell, keeping everything locked in place.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do these boots work with my current bindings?
No — the Control Step On® is compatible with Burton Step On® bindings only. It will not work with traditional strap bindings of any brand. If you don't already own Step On® bindings, you'll need to pick up a compatible set to ride these boots. Not sure which Step On® bindings are right for you? What size should I order?
The DC Control Step On® runs true to size — order your standard men's US shoe size. Like all snowboard boots, it should feel noticeably snug out of the box: toes lightly brushing the front of the liner when standing upright, heel sitting down with minimal lift. That's the correct fit — not too small. Once you bend your knees into a riding stance, your heel drops and toes pull back from the front of the liner, and the boot wraps your foot properly. A boot that feels comfortable standing in a shop will be sloppy on the mountain within an hour. If you're between sizes, the half size down is usually the right call. Do you offer professional boot fitting and heat moulding?
Yes — and it's free when you buy your boots from us. Come into the store at 435A Bridge Rd Richmond and our staff will fit you properly: checking shell fit, measuring your foot, and heat moulding your Response Liner R2 to your exact foot shape on the spot. The R2's heat-mouldable EVA conforms to your foot's specific contours — it eliminates pressure points, locks in your heel, and means the boot feels dialled from run one rather than after a week of break-in. If you're not in Melbourne, we can walk you through the at-home heat moulding process by phone or message.
What if I get the wrong size or the fit isn't right?

With two independent BOA® zones, many apparent fit issues can be resolved through zone-specific tightening adjustments or a heat mould. If the boot genuinely isn't right for your foot, we'll swap it. Boots must be unworn outside — lodge floors and carpet only — and returned in original condition.

The Control Step On® at 4/10 flex is ideal for intermediate riders building their mountain confidence — riders who can link turns on blues and are starting to push onto steeper groomed runs and exploring resort terrain. The Step On® system makes it particularly appealing for riders who want to spend less time at the bottom of the chairlift and more time actually riding. About Snowboard Boots — Buying Guide
Snowboard boots are the most important part of your setup. They connect you to your board, affect your control, comfort, warmth and how much energy you burn across a full day on the hill. Getting the fit right is everything — a boot that fits correctly makes riding easier from your first run. A boot that doesn't will ruin your day regardless of how good the board underneath it is. At Twelve Board Store we fit hundreds of riders every season across brands including Vans, Burton, K2, Ride, ThirtyTwo and DC. Every boot in our range has been ridden and assessed by our team. We only stock boots we'd recommend to our own crew.
Getting your size right online: Measure your foot in centimetres while standing with full weight — this is your Mondo size, the most accurate way to find your boot size. Snowboard boots use US sizing. 25cm = US7, 26cm = US8, 27cm = US9, 28cm = US10, 29cm = US11, 30cm = US12. Boots should feel snug straight out of the box — toes grazing the end when standing, lifting slightly when knees bend forward. A boot that feels comfortable in your lounge room is too big for the mountain.
Volume matters as much as length: Low volume boots suit narrow, low-arch feet. High volume suits wide feet or high arches. Getting volume wrong causes pressure and pain regardless of length. If you're between sizes or have a wide foot, contact us before you buy — we'll point you to the right boot.
Flex rating: Soft (1–4) for beginners, park riders and those who want a surfy, forgiving feel. Medium (5–7) for all-mountain versatility. Stiff (8–10) for aggressive freeride, carving and riders who want direct response and maximum support.
Closure systems: Traditional lace is still the most popular — micro-adjustable, direct feel, lower price point. BOA® dial gives you one-hand precision tightening with gloves on, fast on/off between runs. Hybrid BOA combines lace at the foot with a dial at the instep for zone-by-zone control. Speed lace is faster than traditional lace and lighter than BOA.
