The Hometown Hero has a directional shape with a longer nose, which gives you more board in front of you than a twin of the same length. Many riders size down 2–4cm from what they'd ride in a traditional twin or all-mountain camber board — the directional shape and 12mm taper do the floating work, so you don't need the extra length. The 156 typically rides like a 159–160 all-mountain board in terms of float and stability, while remaining more nimble through trees. Regular or wide — how do I know which to choose?
As a guide, boot size US 10 and under will typically ride the regular width without heel or toe drag. From US 10.5 upward, the 156W or 160W becomes the right call — those wide sizes add between 7–8mm of waist width over the regular equivalents. At US 11 and above, the wide is strongly recommended regardless.
