So You Want to Buy a Super73 — Here's What You Need to Know

Super73 is the bike people come in having already made up their mind about. They've seen it on Instagram, spotted one on the street, decided they want one. That's not a bad starting point — Super73 looks as good as the photos suggest. What we do is make sure the bike you're excited about is the right configuration for how and where you plan to ride.

The Brand

Super73 started in California with a clear idea — a motorcycle-inspired electric bike that looked nothing like utilitarian commuter bikes. Long and low, wide bars, chunky fat tyres. The Legacy Series — Super73's current range — is a genuinely capable product. Up to 30% more acceleration on selected models compared to previous generations, UL 2271-compliant battery systems, updated powertrains across the full lineup. Super73 also has a real community — organised rides, meetups, actual riders who found each other through a shared bike.

The Range — S-Series and Z-Series

S-Series — the one for most people

The full-size Super73. Longer wheelbase, larger battery, more comfortable for taller riders and better for sustained distance riding. Available in EN15194 compliant and unrestricted configurations — this distinction matters enormously.

Z-Series — the compact option

Compact, lighter, easier to store in apartments. For inner-suburb Melbourne riding up to 15 to 20km, a capable and practical option. For longer distance riding or taller riders, the S-Series is better.

The Most Important Thing — Road-Legal vs Unrestricted

Super73 sells both EN15194 compliant bikes — legal on Melbourne's shared paths, bike lanes and public roads — and unrestricted bikes that are not legal on public paths. Unrestricted models have more power, higher top speeds and a throttle. They're genuinely exciting bikes on private property. They are not the right bike if your plan involves Melbourne's Capital City Trail, Bay Trail, Yarra Trail or any other shared path. We confirm which configuration you're buying before the purchase.

What Super73 Is Good For

Weekend lifestyle riding is where Super73 naturally sits — the aesthetic makes every ride feel like an occasion. It commutes well too — the S-Series has the range for meaningful daily commutes and the motor handles Melbourne's hills. The community aspect is real: Melbourne has an active Super73 rider group with regular organised rides.

Frequently Asked Questions

Some models are, some are not. We confirm exactly which you're buying and what it means for where you can ride.

The S-Series suits a wide range of heights. Very tall riders (190cm+) should try it in store before committing. Z-Series suits shorter to average height riders more naturally.

Bring it to our Richmond workshop. Frosty handles Super73 servicing and warranty in-house.
