About Lib Tech
Lib Tech traces back to 1977, when Mike Olson built his first snowboard and, together with Pete Saari, went on to found Mervin Manufacturing — now the last major snowboard factory still building boards by hand in the USA, based in Sequim, Washington. The Lib Tech name itself started as a joke: an experimental skateboard made from shiny aerospace offcuts came out of the press looking like one of Liberace's sparkly jackets, so Olson scrawled "Liberace Technologies" on it, laughed, and a brand was born.
Lib Tech has spent decades pushing snowboard construction forward, from the serrated Magne-Traction edge that turns ice into genuine grip, to the Banana/rocker technology that reshaped how modern boards are built. Every board is still hand-built at the Mervin factory, using sustainably sourced wood cores and eco-conscious materials under what the brand calls its "environMENTAL" ethos. Lib Tech's team has included some of snowboarding's most iconic names, from Jamie Lynn's era-defining power freestyle through to Travis Rice's ongoing run of pro-model boards.
The Lib Tech Snowboard Range
Lib Tech's line-up centres on Travis Rice's pro-model quiver alongside dedicated freestyle, all-mountain, and surf-inspired shapes built in collaboration with riders and shapers across the Mervin family. Here's what's in the current range at Twelve Board Store:
- Orca II — Travis Rice's short, wide, volume-shifted all-mountain shape (ride 3–6cm shorter than your normal board). A tight sidecut and Whale Tail Technology deliver unreal float in powder alongside trench-digging carves and explosive control in tight terrain.
- Apex Orca II — The ultralight, carbon-heavy Apex build of the Orca II, volume-shifted the same way (ride 1–3cm shorter) but with the swing weight stripped out for riders who want the Orca's power with a lighter, snappier feel.
- Golden Orca — Travis Rice's freestyle evolution of the Orca, merging the Orca's floaty nose with T. Rice Pro DNA. A new switch-friendly power kink tail rides short and poppy on hardpack while still floating beautifully through switch landings in pow.
- T. Rice Pro — Travis Rice's versatile daily driver. A do-it-all twin shape built to push your limits anywhere on the mountain while staying playful enough for everyday resort laps.
- T. Rice Pro Camber — The full camber version of the T. Rice Pro, for riders who want maximum edge hold, pop, and precision over the hybrid rocker/camber profile of the standard Pro.
- Dynamiss — Lib Tech's women's all-mountain freeride board. An aggressive C3 camber profile and Magne-Traction edges give it real bite on firm, icy mornings while still floating when the snow piles up — a genuine one-board daily driver.
- Jamie Lynn — Jamie Lynn's signature power freestyle board. Aggressive camber and a big, floaty tapered nose are built to stomp landings and hold a line at speed — a board for confident, aggressive riders rather than a first board.
- Lib Rig — Austen Sweetin's all-terrain daily driver. A full-sized floaty nose, switch-functional tail, deep sidecuts, and mild taper sit on an Early Rise Directional Camber profile built to charge everything from groomers to powder.
- Mayhem Rocket — The original Lib Tech x ...Lost collaboration with surfboard shaper Matt Biolos. A surf-inspired directional shape with progressive elliptical sidecuts and set-back camber, built as a hardpack carving power-trenching machine.
- Mayhem Sweet Fish — The second Lib x Mayhem collab. Directional camber with a mild early rise and long floaty nose deliver effortless carving and float in deep snow, with a winged swallow tail for a playful, surfy feel.

Volume-shifted boards ride shorter than a standard board of the same length — the Orca II and Apex Orca II are both intended to be sized down (3–6cm and 1–3cm respectively) from what you'd usually ride, while the Lib Rig has a mild volume shift the other way and rides 1–2cm longer than usual.
