About K2
K2 got its start in 1962, when brothers Bill and Don Kirschner began making fibreglass skis on Vashon Island, Washington — technology that made skis dramatically lighter and livelier than the wood and metal skis of the time. The name comes from the world's second-highest mountain, and the two Kirschner brothers behind it. K2 didn't get into snowboarding until 1988, but by the mid-90s it had built its own dedicated snowboard factory and climbed into the top five snowboard brands in the US.
Today K2 is headquartered in Seattle and sits under the same ownership group as Ride Snowboards, Line Skis and several other winter sports brands. Decades of ski technology feed directly into how K2 builds snowboards — carbon reinforcement, precision core construction, and a strong focus on all-mountain versatility across a range built for everyone from first-timers to advanced freeriders.
The K2 Snowboard Range
We stock a genuine cross-section of K2's line, from a forgiving women's progression board through to a carbon-reinforced freeride weapon built for deep days.
- Passport — K2's versatile all-mountain unisex board, built with a lively personality that leans toward pow and steep terrain without shutting out groomer days. A stiffer, performance-oriented flex suits confident riders more than total beginners.
- Almanac — an all-mountain unisex board with a mellow camber and early rise at both nose and tail, plus two reference stance options (freestyle and freeride) so you can dial in the ride you want. Medium flex, easy to ride switch, happiest on medium-radius carves and side hits.
- Commonwealth — shares its shape with the Passport but steps up to K2's higher-end full-camber construction for a more dynamic, poppy, energetic ride. Less forgiving and less floaty than the Passport, but noticeably livelier underfoot — built for advanced to expert riders and sized for all genders.
- Dreamsicle — a women's progression board built to make learning fun rather than frustrating. A flat/rocker profile keeps it forgiving and hard to catch an edge on, with a soft flex that's easy to press and float through soft snow.
- Excavator — K2's freeride all-mountain carver, with a big nose, slight swallowtail, and a directional camber/rocker blend built for deep trenches on groomers and floating through fresh snow. Volume-shifted, so it's designed to be ridden 4–6cm shorter than your usual length.

K2 designs the Excavator to be sized 4–6cm shorter than a rider's usual board length — its wider, volume-shifted shape carries the same effective surface area as a longer, narrower board.
