About Bataleon
Bataleon was founded in the early 2000s by Dutch biophysicist Jorgen Karlson, who studied the way a snowboard actually behaves underfoot and came up with an idea most of the industry dismissed at the time: lift the nose and tail contact points off the snow while keeping traditional camber underneath. Rejected by the established snowboard companies he pitched it to, Karlson found a small team who believed in the idea as much as he did, and Triple Base Technology (3BT) was born.
3BT combines positive camber through the centre of the board with a raised, hull-like base shape at the nose and tail. The result is a board that initiates turns more easily, catches fewer edges, and floats better in powder and chop — without losing the pop and edge control that camber provides. Two decades on, 3BT (now in its SideKick-enhanced form) still sits at the heart of every Bataleon board, tuned differently across five variations depending on whether a board is built for jibbing, park laps, all-mountain freestyle, freeride or deep powder. Bataleon is headquartered in Amsterdam and builds its boards at the SWS factory.
The Bataleon Snowboard Range
Every board below runs 3BT, but the amount and placement of it changes the character of each shape completely — from the exaggerated hull nose on a dedicated powder board to the low, wide centrebase built for rails. We stock a spread across the range, from playful park twins through to the brand's flagship powder shape.
- The Surfer — Bataleon's most exaggerated 3D shape and the board the brand is best known for. A wide, hull-like nose and a deep swallowtail deliver near-unsinkable float in powder, while a progressive sidecut and full camber keep it surprisingly capable on groomers for a board this powder-focused.
- Disaster — a soft, true twin park board built for jibs, presses and rails. Wide Jib 3BT centrebase for stability on features, low uplift nose and tail, and a forgiving flex that suits progressing park riders as much as it does seasoned jibbers.
- Party Wave — Bataleon's "short and wide done right" powder and all-mountain slasher. Directional with taper and setback, high sidelift in the nose and low in the tail, meant to be sized down 5–10cm from a normal all-mountain length. A surfy slasher rather than a groomer carver.
- Stereo (Men's) — a 3D true twin freestyle/park board with a soft-medium flex and centred inserts, built for switch-friendly park laps, side hits and creative all-mountain freestyle.
- Stereo Team — the higher-performance version of the Stereo, with HyCap construction, a tri-radial sidecut and a medium-stiff flex aimed at advanced freestyle riders who want more response for jumps, rails and street features.
- Stereo (Women's) — the women's true twin freestyle/park shape, playful and switch-friendly with the same 3D shaping as the men's Stereo, tuned for park laps and creative resort riding.
- Whatever — the do-it-all all-mountain freestyle daily driver. Directional twin shape, medium flex, and enough support to handle groomers, side hits and park laps in the same run.

Bataleon recommends sizing 5–10cm shorter than your usual all-mountain length on the Party Wave — its short, wide shape carries the same effective surface area as a longer board.
