This Summer season, Japan has received some of the biggest snowfalls ever on record and to sum it up...it has been wild. Just this week some resorts reported over 100cm of snow falling over just a few days. Just head to the Niseko United Instagram page and see for yourself. Japan offers world-class snowboarding, with the best spots found in Hokkaido and Honshu. In Hokkaido, Niseko is famous for its deep powder, while Furano and Rusutsu offer fewer crowds and incredible terrain. Honshu boasts Nagano’s Hakuba Valley, home to multiple resorts with varied terrain and epic backcountry access. Myoko Kogen is another must-visit for deep snow and a classic Japanese vibe. For off-the-beaten-path adventures, Tohoku (including resorts like Aomori Spring and Appi Kogen) delivers incredible snow without the crowds. Whether you're after backcountry riding, tree runs, or powder-filled groomers, Japan has it all!
