Z-Flex Surf-A-Gogo Surfskate Fish | 31"
Sixties Venice surf style with a front end that turns on a dime.
The Surf-a-gogo Surfskate Fish is a 31" fish-tail surfskate for pumping, carving and surf training on land. The Surf-a-gogo series celebrates 1960s Venice Beach surf culture and fashion, inspired by a surf contest held under the Pacific Ocean Pier. It suits surfers keeping their legs fit between sessions and skaters who want a looser, flowier ride.
The 9.75" wide 7-ply deck runs Z-Flex's patented Waterborne Surfskate Adapter under the front truck, giving around 3x tighter turns than an ordinary skate truck. Both trucks are 6.25" powder-coated Z-Flex with soft 90A cushions, and the rear sits on a 14mm riser. Soft 63mm 83A Z-Smooth wheels give the grip you need to pump, with enough slide to throw the tail.

About Z-Flex
Z-Flex is one of skateboarding's original brands. It was started in 1976 by Kent Sherwood, Jay Adams's stepfather, a fibreglass craftsman who had been building boards for the Zephyr team in Dogtown, the Santa Monica and Venice Beach stretch of the California coast. When Sherwood split from Zephyr he took Jay Adams and a handful of Z-Boys with him under the name EZ-Ryder, and within six months the brand became Z-Flex.
Z-Flex lays claim to the first skateboard with a concave top and to a smoother-riding wheel that helped shape the soft wheels most riders use today. Its current range still draws straight from that history: the P.O.P, Ruins to Roses, Banana Train, Surf-a-gogo and Aragon Cheetah series all take their stories from Pacific Ocean Park and the Dogtown scene. Riders choose Z-Flex for easy-riding cruisers, longboards and surfskates with real heritage, set up to be fun from the first push.
FAQs
What is the Z-Flex Surf-a-gogo Surfskate best for?
Pumping and tight, surfy carving. The Waterborne adapter lets the front truck swing deep into turns, so you can generate speed without pushing. It's ideal for car parks, beach paths and surf training.
Is a 31" surfskate the right size for me?
It suits most teens and adults. At 31" long and a wide 9.75", it gives a roomy, stable stance that feels close to a shortboard. Smaller riders who want quicker turns may prefer a shorter surfskate, while anyone wanting a longer, flowing carve could look at a 38" Z-Flex pintail. The 9.75" width suits bigger feet too.
Is the Surf-a-gogo Surfskate good for beginners?
Yes, with a short learning curve. The front end is far looser than a normal skateboard, so start on flat, smooth ground and practise pumping slowly. Once it clicks, it's one of the most fun boards you can ride.
What is a surfskate?
A surfskate is a skateboard with a front truck that turns far tighter than normal, so you can pump for speed and carve like you're on a wave. Z-Flex surfskates use the patented Waterborne Surfskate Adapter, a cast aluminium unit that bolts between the deck and a standard front truck and lets it swing for around 3x tighter turns than an ordinary skate truck. The rear truck sits on a 14mm riser to match the height and keeps the back end stable.
Can I commute on the Surf-a-gogo Surfskate?
For short trips, yes, but it's not built for distance. The loose front truck is made for carving rather than straight-line stability, and the 63mm wheels are on the smaller side for rough roads. For a daily commute, a drop-through longboard is the better tool.
Does it come ready to ride?
Yes. It arrives fully assembled with griptape, trucks, wheels and bearings installed. Just check the truck tightness suits you and go ride.

Why Buy from Twelve Board Store
Twelve Board Store has been riders selling to riders since 2013. We are not a generic retail chain — we are a specialist board sports retailer built around genuine product knowledge, real rider experience and the kind of after-sales support that only comes from a team that actually uses the gear they sell.
Every brand we stock, we ride. Every recommendation we make comes from real experience — on the mountain, in the park, on the street, and on the road. When you call us, you talk to someone who has been on a snowboard at Hotham last weekend or a skateboard in the carpark this morning. That is the difference between buying from Twelve and buying from a warehouse with a website.
We offer services that no online-only retailer can match. Our in-store workshop handles snowboard waxing and tuning, boot heat moulding, electric skateboard and e-bike repairs and assembly, and warranty support handled in-house rather than shipped offshore to a call centre. If something goes wrong with your gear, we fix it. If your boots don't fit, we sort it. If you ordered the wrong size, we swap it — no questions asked.
Our showroom at 435A Bridge Road Richmond stocks the full range across snowboards, bindings, boots, skateboards, longboards, electric skateboards, e-bikes, outerwear and accessories. We offer free shipping Australia-wide on orders over $89, AfterPay and Zip for flexible payment, and fast dispatch so your gear arrives when you need it.
Over a decade in business. More than 1,000 reviews. The most trusted specialist board store in Melbourne. If you need advice before you buy, call us on 03 9421 2293, visit us in-store, or contact us online — we'll get you sorted.
