Z-Flex Jay Adams Complete Shadow Lurker | 9.5"
All black, tip to tail. Jay Adams's pool shape for bowls and cruising.
The Jay Adams Complete Shadow Lurker is Z-Flex's 9.5" pool board in full blackout: black deck, black graphic, black trucks and black wheels. It's built on Jay Adams's classic pool shape, a tribute to the original Z-Boy whose stepfather Kent Sherwood started Z-Flex. It's for teens and adults who want a wide, stable board for bowls, ramps and cruising.
The 7-ply deck is 32" long and 9.5" wide with a 15.25" wheelbase and a kicktail. It runs wide 6.25" powder-coated Z-Flex trucks with soft 90A cushions on 14mm risers, and 60mm 90A wheels. That setup is fast and grippy in bowls and still smooth enough to cruise around town.

About Z-Flex
Z-Flex is one of skateboarding's original brands. It was started in 1976 by Kent Sherwood, Jay Adams's stepfather, a fibreglass craftsman who had been building boards for the Zephyr team in Dogtown, the Santa Monica and Venice Beach stretch of the California coast. When Sherwood split from Zephyr he took Jay Adams and a handful of Z-Boys with him under the name EZ-Ryder, and within six months the brand became Z-Flex.
Z-Flex lays claim to the first skateboard with a concave top and to a smoother-riding wheel that helped shape the soft wheels most riders use today. Its current range still draws straight from that history: the P.O.P, Ruins to Roses, Banana Train, Surf-a-gogo and Aragon Cheetah series all take their stories from Pacific Ocean Park and the Dogtown scene. Riders choose Z-Flex for easy-riding cruisers, longboards and surfskates with real heritage, set up to be fun from the first push.
FAQs
What is the Z-Flex Jay Adams Shadow Lurker best for?
Bowls, pools and ramps, plus cruising around town. The 9.5" pool shape and 6.25" trucks are stable on transition, and the 60mm 90A wheels have the speed and grip you need in the park.
Is a 32" cruiser the right size for me?
It suits teens and adults, especially riders with bigger feet. At 32" long and 9.5" wide, it's a big, stable platform for transition and carving. If you mainly want street and flip tricks, a 7.75"–8.25" popsicle deck is a better fit, and if you want a lighter cruiser, try a Z-Flex 29".
Is the Jay Adams Shadow Lurker good for beginners?
Yes, for cruising, carving and learning to ride bowls. The wide deck and 60mm wheels are stable and forgiving. If your goal is street tricks, start on a narrower popsicle complete instead.
Cruiser vs skateboard: what's the difference?
A street skateboard is narrow with small hard wheels for flip tricks, while a cruiser or pool board is wider with bigger wheels for rolling and carving. The Jay Adams Shadow Lurker sits in the middle: a wide pool shape with a kicktail and 60mm wheels, made for bowls, ramps and cruising rather than flip tricks.
Can I commute on the Jay Adams Shadow Lurker?
For short trips, yes. The 60mm 90A wheels roll well on smooth footpaths but feel buzzier on rough concrete than a cruiser's softer 83A wheels. If commuting is the main job, a Z-Flex cruiser or longboard is the better pick.
Does it come ready to ride?
Yes. It arrives fully assembled with griptape, trucks, wheels and bearings installed. Just check the truck tightness suits you and go ride.
