Z-Flex Ruins To Roses Cruiser | 29"
Black oak and gold, rising from the ashes of the P.O.P pier.
The Ruins to Roses Cruiser tells the story of the Pacific Ocean Pier in Venice Beach, the birthplace of the Z-Boys: its burning, its decline, and the new generation of surfers and skaters who rose out of the wreckage. Z-Flex marks it with black oak veneers, gold graphics and gold components. It's the classic Z-Flex 29" cruiser, made for riders of every level.
The deck is 7-ply: 5 plies of Canadian hard rock maple and 2 plies of black oak. It rides on 5" powder-coated Z-Flex trucks with soft 90A cushions and 14mm riser blocks, rolling on soft 63mm 83A Z-Smooth wheels. Spray grip keeps the black oak look clean. It's smooth on rough concrete and quick to turn, with a kicktail for kerbs and kick turns.

About Z-Flex
Z-Flex is one of skateboarding's original brands. It was started in 1976 by Kent Sherwood, Jay Adams's stepfather, a fibreglass craftsman who had been building boards for the Zephyr team in Dogtown, the Santa Monica and Venice Beach stretch of the California coast. When Sherwood split from Zephyr he took Jay Adams and a handful of Z-Boys with him under the name EZ-Ryder, and within six months the brand became Z-Flex.
Z-Flex lays claim to the first skateboard with a concave top and to a smoother-riding wheel that helped shape the soft wheels most riders use today. Its current range still draws straight from that history: the P.O.P, Ruins to Roses, Banana Train, Surf-a-gogo and Aragon Cheetah series all take their stories from Pacific Ocean Park and the Dogtown scene. Riders choose Z-Flex for easy-riding cruisers, longboards and surfskates with real heritage, set up to be fun from the first push.
FAQs
What is the Z-Flex Ruins to Roses Cruiser best for?
Everyday cruising with a premium look. The soft 63mm wheels and riser blocks make it smooth on rough footpaths, and the compact 29" deck is easy to carry and turn. It's ideal for trips around town and surf checks.
Is a 29" cruiser the right size for me?
It suits most teens and adults who want a compact board that's still easy to stand on. At 29.5" long and 7.5" wide with a 15.75" wheelbase, the Ruins to Roses Cruiser is small enough to carry onto a tram but roomy enough for relaxed cruising. If you want more width for bigger feet, look at a 31" Z-Flex 80s board, and if you want something smaller for a backpack, the 27" range is the pick.
Is the Ruins to Roses Cruiser good for beginners?
Yes. Z-Flex built this shape for all levels, and the soft 83A wheels and 90A cushions make it stable, forgiving and easy to steer. It's a simple board to learn the basics on.
Cruiser vs skateboard: what's the difference?
A cruiser is built for rolling, not flip tricks. The Ruins to Roses Cruiser runs soft 63mm 83A Z-Smooth wheels on riser blocks, so it's smoother, quieter and grippier on rough footpaths than a street skateboard's small hard wheels. The shape is made for comfortable pushing and carving, with a kicktail for kick turns and getting up kerbs.
Can I commute on the Ruins to Roses Cruiser?
Yes, for short to medium rides. The soft wheels handle most footpaths, and the 29" deck carries easily onto a train or tram. If you're riding long distances every day, a 69mm-wheel longboard will roll further with less effort.
Does it come ready to ride?
Yes. It arrives fully assembled with griptape, trucks, wheels and bearings installed. Just check the truck tightness suits you and go ride.
