Thunder Hi Hollow Polished Trucks | 149
Thunder Hi with a hollow axle, hollow kingpin and forged base.
Thunder Hollow Lights are Thunder's lightweight Hi, with a hollow axle on top of the Lights' forged base and hollow kingpin. The 149 has a 8.5" axle for decks around 8.25" to 8.75", and they're made for street and tech skaters who want minimum weight and Thunder's lightning-quick turn.
Thunder takes the Hi geometry and adds a hollow axle and a hollow kingpin to a light forged aluminium baseplate. The 149 stands 52.3mm tall with a 149.2mm hanger and weighs about 327.2g per truck, so the board flicks easily but stays stable and durable.

What Size Board Does It Fit?
Match the truck's axle width to your deck width, ideally within about 1/4" either side. Too narrow feels twitchy and unstable; too wide and the wheels stick out past the deck and catch your feet. Here is Thunder's size chart for the Hollow Lights.
| Truck size | Axle width | Best board width |
|---|---|---|
| 145 | 7.6" | 7.38"–8.0" |
| 147 | 8.0" | 7.75"–8.25" |
| 148 | 8.25" | 8.0"–8.5" |
| 149 | 8.5" | 8.25"–8.75" |
| 151 | 8.75" | 8.5"–9.0" |
Thunder sizes run differently to Indy sizes: a Thunder 147 has an 8.0" axle, like an Indy 139.
About Thunder
Thunder Trucks launched in San Francisco in 1986, the same year Deluxe Distribution was founded in the city. Thunder is the oldest brand in the Deluxe family, which today also includes Spitfire and Venture.
Thunder is known for a quick, responsive turn and for making light trucks without giving up strength. Its Lights put a forged baseplate and hollow kingpin on the classic Hi geometry, and the Hollow Lights add a hollow axle to drop even more weight. Street and tech skaters choose Thunder for that snappy feel and easy flip weight.
FAQs
What size board do the Thunder 149 trucks fit?
Boards from about 8.25" to 8.75" wide. The Thunder 149 has a 8.5" axle; Thunder sizes are numbers, not inches, so always check axle width against your deck.
Thunder vs Independent: how do they feel different?
Thunder trucks are known for a quicker, snappier turn and lower weight, which a lot of tech street skaters like. Indys tend to feel a bit more stable and planted. Neither is better; it comes down to how you like your board to respond.
Do I need risers with Thunder Hollow Lights trucks?
Not for most street setups. At 52.3mm tall, wheels up to about 54mm generally run fine without risers. If you ride bigger or softer wheels, or loose trucks, add a 1/8" riser to stop wheelbite.
Do the Thunder 149 trucks come as a pair?
Yes. You get two trucks, enough to set up one skateboard, with kingpin nuts, axle nuts and bushings fitted. Mounting hardware (bolts) is not included, so grab a set of 7/8" or 1" bolts if you don't have them.
How tight should I set my Thunder trucks?
Start with the kingpin nut just snug enough that the bushings sit firmly in the cups, then adjust a quarter turn at a time. Looser turns sharper but can wobble at speed; tighter feels more stable and gives you more pop off the tail. Never back the nut off so far that it isn't fully on the kingpin thread.
