Powell Peralta Kevin Reimer SSF Snake Wheels 72mm/80a | Red
Kevin Reimer's 72mm downhill wheel in a firm 80a.
This is the 72mm pro wheel of downhill and freeride skater Kevin Reimer, in red and 80a. It's a big, fast wheel for riders who skate steep hills, want speed and stability, and still need a slide they can trust.
This 80a pour is firmer than the 75a green Reimer, with more edge grip before it lets go. Tight lips and solid walls let the 72mm handle high speed drifts, and once broken in it slides smoothly for fast freeride.
Key Features
- 72mm diameter: big roll speed and stability at pace
- 80a urethane: more edge grip than the 75a green Reimer
- Tight lips, solid walls: smooth slide at most speeds
- Breaks in smooth: slides cleanly once the skin wears off
- Smooth surface: predictable breakaway at speed
- Pro model: Kevin Reimer signature wheel
Specs
- Diameter: 72mm
- Durometer: 80a
- Formula/urethane: Powell 80a downhill urethane
- Surface: Smooth
- Profile: Tight lips, solid walls
- Colour: Red
- Best for: Downhill, freeride, fast cruising and carving
- Sold as: Set of 4 (no bearings)
About Powell Peralta
Powell Peralta was founded in 1978 by engineer George Powell and skater Stacy Peralta in Santa Barbara, California. Powell had already been baking his own urethane wheels and building his own boards since the mid 1970s, and in 1979 the pair formed the Bones Brigade, the team that included Ray "Bones" Rodriguez, Steve Caballero, Tony Hawk, Lance Mountain, Rodney Mullen, Tommy Guerrero and Mike Vallely.
Today Powell Peralta still puts a big focus on urethane research and its own wheel formulas. Dragon Formula covers street and park, while Soft Slide Formula (SSF) covers cruising, freeride and downhill. Riders pick Powell because the wheels last, roll fast and slide when you want them to, and because the brand has been part of skating for close to five decades.
FAQs
What are Kevin Reimer wheels best for?
Downhill and freeride. The 72mm size carries speed and stays stable, and the 80a urethane gives a smooth slide with more edge grip than the 75a green. They also work for fast cruising and carving if you like big wheels.
What does 80a mean?
80a is the hardness on the A scale. It's firmer than earlier Reimer wheels such as the 75a green, so it feels more grounded, grips harder at the edge, while still cushioning rough roads.
Will 72mm wheels fit my board or do I need risers?
These need a longboard with room for big wheels. Drop-through and drop-deck boards or decks with deep wheel wells are ideal. On a top-mount board without wells, plan on 1/2" risers or more.
Do they come with bearings?
No. You get a set of 4 wheels with no bearings. Any standard 608 skateboard bearing fits, so you'll need a set of 8 (two per wheel), plus spacers if your bearings don't have them built in.

Why Buy from Twelve Board Store
Twelve Board Store has been riders selling to riders since 2013. We are not a generic retail chain — we are a specialist board sports retailer built around genuine product knowledge, real rider experience and the kind of after-sales support that only comes from a team that actually uses the gear they sell.
Every brand we stock, we ride. Every recommendation we make comes from real experience — on the mountain, in the park, on the street, and on the road. When you call us, you talk to someone who has been on a snowboard at Hotham last weekend or a skateboard in the carpark this morning. That is the difference between buying from Twelve and buying from a warehouse with a website.
We offer services that no online-only retailer can match. Our in-store workshop handles snowboard waxing and tuning, boot heat moulding, electric skateboard and e-bike repairs and assembly, and warranty support handled in-house rather than shipped offshore to a call centre. If something goes wrong with your gear, we fix it. If your boots don't fit, we sort it. If you ordered the wrong size, we swap it — no questions asked.
Our showroom at 435A Bridge Road Richmond stocks the full range across snowboards, bindings, boots, skateboards, longboards, electric skateboards, e-bikes, outerwear and accessories. We offer free shipping Australia-wide on orders over $89, AfterPay and Zip for flexible payment, and fast dispatch so your gear arrives when you need it.
Over a decade in business. More than 1,000 reviews. The most trusted specialist board store in Melbourne. If you need advice before you buy, call us on 03 9421 2293, visit us in-store, or contact us online — we'll get you sorted.
