The Wolfshark is a compact, directional freeride and downhill board. Landyachtz first released it in 2011, and the latest version keeps the top-mount platform but in a more compact shape with a shorter wheelbase. It suits riders who want to learn to slide, carve faster hills and progress into freeride, as well as experienced riders after a nimble board for tight roads.

The 35.2" deck is stiff maple with a rocker profile and wheel flares, giving you a planted, predictable platform and extra reference points for your feet. It's set up with Bear Gen 6 155mm 40° trucks on 90a bushings, for stability at speed, and Hawgs wheels with Spaceball bearings. Stiff, low-angle and responsive, it holds a line and drifts predictably.

About Landyachtz

Landyachtz was started in 1997 by childhood friends Tom Edstrand and Mike Perreten while they were studying at the University of Victoria in British Columbia, Canada. Their first production run was pressed in a ski racing shed at Blackcomb, near Whistler. The company then moved to North Vancouver, first into a family garage and then into shared space with Invasion Snowboards, and it was there Landyachtz developed its own Bear Trucks and Hawgs Wheels. Tom Edstrand went on to win the IGSA longboarding world championship in 2005.

Today Landyachtz is still skater owned and operated, based in the Strathcona neighbourhood of Vancouver. It designs its decks, trucks and wheels to work together as one complete, from compact Dinghy cruisers and surfskates to dancing boards and downhill freeride decks. Is the Wolfshark good for beginners?
It's best for riders who can already push, carve and stop comfortably and want to learn to slide or ride faster hills. The stiff deck and 40° trucks are stable, but it's a performance shape rather than a first board. Always wear a helmet and slide gloves when riding hills.

What's the difference between drop-through and top-mount?
On a top-mount board like the Wolfshark, the deck sits on top of the trucks, so you get more leverage, more grip in corners and a more direct feel. Drop-through boards mount the trucks through the deck so they ride lower, which makes pushing and foot-braking easier and feels steady for cruising. For freeride and downhill, top-mount gives the control and corner grip most riders want.

Can I commute on the Wolfshark?
You can for short trips, but it isn't built for it. It's a stiff, top-mount freeride board, so pushing is more work than on a low drop-through, and the wheels are tuned for sliding rather than rolling over rough footpaths. For daily commuting, a drop-through longboard or big-wheeled cruiser is the better pick.

Does it come ready to ride?
