The Dugout is a compact Landyachtz cruiser with an extended wheelbase, here in the Escape graphic with artwork by Sarah King. It's a step up from the Dinghy: still short enough to carry and stash, but longer and wider underfoot for a steadier, more planted ride. It suits teens and adults who want an easy everyday cruiser for the city, campus and beach.

The 31.5" x 8.5" deck is 7-ply Canadian maple with mild concave, a functional kicktail and sanded wheel wells for clearance. It's set up with 130mm Polar Bear trucks and soft 60mm Chubby Hawgs, with Spaceball bearings. The 17.25" wheelbase gives it stability through carves and at speed, while the kicktail keeps it quick for kerbs and tight turns.

About Landyachtz

Landyachtz was started in 1997 by childhood friends Tom Edstrand and Mike Perreten while they were studying at the University of Victoria in British Columbia, Canada. Their first production run was pressed in a ski racing shed at Blackcomb, near Whistler. The company then moved to North Vancouver, first into a family garage and then into shared space with Invasion Snowboards, and it was there Landyachtz developed its own Bear Trucks and Hawgs Wheels. Tom Edstrand went on to win the IGSA longboarding world championship in 2005.

Today Landyachtz is still skater owned and operated, based in the Strathcona neighbourhood of Vancouver. It designs its decks, trucks and wheels to work together as one complete, from compact Dinghy cruisers and surfskates to dancing boards and downhill freeride decks. Through its One Board One Tree program, Landyachtz plants a tree for every board it sells. If you want a complete where every part was chosen for the deck it's bolted to, Landyachtz is a safe bet.

What is the Landyachtz Dugout best for?
Everyday cruising around the city, campus and beach. The longer wheelbase makes it steadier than most compact cruisers, and the kicktail and soft wheels let you turn quickly, hop kerbs and roll over rough footpaths.

Is a 31.5" cruiser the right size for me?
Yes for most teens and adults. It's compact enough to carry, but the 8.5" width and 17.25" wheelbase give more room and stability than a mini cruiser. If you want the smallest, most portable option, the 28.5" Dinghy is the pick; for a full-size skate shape with double kicks, look at the 32" ATV Perfecto.

Is the Dugout good for beginners?
Yes. The longer wheelbase makes it more stable than a Dinghy, the soft wheels are forgiving and the mild concave is comfortable. It's a great first cruiser for learning to push, carve and stop.

Cruiser vs skateboard: what's the difference?
A cruiser like the Dugout uses soft, grippy wheels that roll over cracks and rough footpaths, and a shape built for comfortable riding from A to B. A standard skateboard has small, hard wheels and a double-kick deck made for tricks on smooth skatepark surfaces. If you mostly want to get around, a cruiser is smoother, quieter and easier.

Can I commute on the Dugout?
Yes, for short to medium trips. The longer wheelbase keeps it steady and the 60mm Chubby Hawgs handle most footpaths, and it's small enough to carry into class or onto the tram. For long distances or very rough roads, a longboard with bigger wheels will roll further with less effort.

Does it come ready to ride?
Yes. It arrives fully assembled with griptape, trucks, wheels and bearings installed. Just check the truck tightness suits you and go ride.
