Independent Hollow Trucks Andrew Allen| 149 (Pair)
Andrew Allen's pro Stage 11 Hollows, lighter and ready to grind.
These are Andrew Allen's pro model Independent Stage 11 Hollow trucks. The 149 has a 8.5" axle for decks around 8.375" to 8.6", the most popular street and park width, and they're an all-purpose truck for any kind of skating.
Stage 11 Hollows keep the classic 55mm height and A356 T6 aluminium hanger and baseplate, then swap in a hollow chromoly axle and kingpin. Independent says that makes them 7% lighter than a Stage 11 Standard. The pro edition has a polished silver hanger with Andrew Allen artwork on the hanger and baseplate, a black baseplate, orange 90a cushions and a laser-etched hollow logo under the hanger.

What Size Board Does It Fit?
Match the truck's axle width to your deck width, ideally within about 1/4" either side. Too narrow feels twitchy and unstable; too wide and the wheels stick out past the deck and catch your feet. Here is Independent's official size chart for the Stage 11 Hollow.
| Truck size | Axle width | Best board width |
|---|---|---|
| 139 | 8.0" | 7.8"–8.2" |
| 144 | 8.25" | 8.2"–8.375" |
| 149 | 8.5" | 8.375"–8.6" |
| 159 | 8.75" | 8.6"–9.0" |
| 169 | 9.125" | 9.0"–9.5" |
Riding an 8.25" or 8.5"? The 149 is the go-to; drop to the 144 if you like a narrower, quicker truck.
About Independent
Independent Truck Company was founded in 1978 by Richard Novak and Jay Shuirman, the pair behind Santa Cruz Skateboards, together with Fausto Vitello and Eric Swenson, whose San Francisco company Ermico Enterprises manufactured the trucks. The first Indys came out that year, and the brand is still based in Santa Cruz, California.
Today Independent is the truck most skaters picture when they think of a skateboard truck. It is known for a stable, predictable turn, a hanger that grinds smooth and a lifetime guarantee under the motto Built to Grind. From the classic Stage 11 to the lower Mid and the featherweight Forged Titanium, there is an Indy for street, park, bowl and old-school shapes, and they all feel familiar the moment you step on.
FAQs
What size board do the Independent Andrew Allen 149 trucks fit?
Boards around 8.375" to 8.6" wide. The 149 has a 8.5" axle, which puts the wheels right under the rails of a typical 8.5" street deck.
Do pro model Indys ride differently?
No. Andrew Allen's trucks are standard Stage 11 Hollows with his artwork, so the geometry, height and turn are identical to any other Stage 11 Hollow. You're choosing the graphic and supporting the rider.
Do I need risers with Stage 11 Hollow trucks?
Usually not. At 55mm tall they clear wheels 56mm and under, per Independent. Running bigger wheels or loose trucks? Add a 1/8" riser.
Do the Independent Andrew Allen 149 trucks come as a pair?
Yes. You get two trucks, enough to set up one skateboard, with kingpin nuts, axle nuts and bushings fitted. Mounting hardware (bolts) is not included, so grab a set of 7/8" or 1" bolts if you don't have them.
How tight should I set my Stage 11 Hollows?
Start with the kingpin nut just snug enough that the bushings sit firmly in the cups, then adjust a quarter turn at a time. Looser turns sharper but can wobble at speed; tighter feels more stable and gives you more pop off the tail. Never back the nut off so far that it isn't fully on the kingpin thread.
