12L backcountry pack built for the mountain minimalist.
The Dakine Women's Heli Pack 12L takes its name and philosophy from heli-skiers who need to carry avalanche rescue gear and not much else — so it's built lean, with dedicated sleeves for your shovel handle and probe in the main compartment, plus an external strap that carries the shovel blade on its own. It's small enough to stay out of the way on the chair or in the helicopter, but purposeful enough to handle a real backcountry day.
Inside, a fleece-lined goggle pocket keeps your lenses protected and scratch-free on the way up, while the hydration sleeve doubles as a 15" laptop sleeve once you're off the mountain — making this a pack that earns its keep well beyond ski season. The women's-specific build features a shorter back length and sculpted shoulder straps for a fit that sits properly rather than just being a scaled-down unisex pack, and the quick-dry mesh back panel helps keep things comfortable on the skin track. It carries boards and skis too — vertical snowboard carry, with a diagonal option for skis or splitboards — so it transitions easily between disciplines. Constructed entirely from 100% recycled polyester, it's part of Dakine's ongoing push to build gear that's better for the places it's used in.

About Dakine
Dakine was founded on Maui's North Shore in 1979 by surfer Rob Kaplan, who started out building tougher surf leashes for his friends after watching too many boards get lost to the rocks. As windsurfing took off through the 80s, the brand expanded into harnesses, foot straps, and travel bags, eventually relocating to Hood River, Oregon, where it grew into snowboarding, skiing, and mountain biking gear. The Heli Pack has a fitting origin story of its own — it started as a custom favour for a snowboarder who needed an essentials-only pack for heli trips to Alaska, and that "nothing you don't need" approach has defined the line ever since. Today Dakine builds gear under the same philosophy it started with: live it, build it, test it, improve it.
