Burton Men's Synthetic Midweight Base Layer Crew 2027 | True Black
Your Go-To Winter Base Layer
The Burton Men's Synthetic Midweight Base Layer Crew 2027 in True Black is the base layer you'll reach for most of the winter. It has enough warmth for chairlift wind and grey days, with HeiQ tech to help it stay comfortable as you heat up.
The 230 GSM peached jersey has a soft brushed feel against the skin and four-way stretch for full movement. HeiQ Smart Temp helps manage your temperature through long days and changing weather, while HeiQ Fresh controls odour so it stays wearable across a trip. Slim cut, flat Softlock seams and hidden thumbholes, here in True Black.
Best for: mid-winter riding on the Australian mainland, riders who feel the cold on the chairlift, and Japan trips as the core layer.

Built for Australian Conditions
Midweight is the mid-winter workhorse for Hotham, Falls, Buller, Thredbo and Perisher. It has enough body for windy chairlifts and grey July days, and the HeiQ Smart Temp finish helps it settle down once you start working hard in the trees or hiking for laps. In spring you may find it too warm under a heavy jacket, so pair it with a shell, open your vents, or swap to a lighter layer on blue-sky afternoons. For Japan it's a solid core layer: wear it as your main base on cold days and add a midlayer when the temperature really drops.
Not for you if: you mostly ride warm spring days or run hot and want a thinner, lighter layer. Browse our men's thermals and use the filters to compare weights.

FAQs
How does the Burton Men's Synthetic Midweight Base Layer Crew fit?
It's cut slim with four-way stretch, so it sits close for warmth and wicking but still moves with you. Most riders take their usual Burton size. If you prefer a looser feel over a closer fit, go up one. Call us on 03 9421 2293 or come into our Richmond showroom.
What does peached jersey mean?
The fabric surface is brushed so it feels softer and a little warmer against the skin than a smooth jersey. It's what gives this midweight its comfortable, cosy hand feel.
Midweight or lightweight: which should I get?
Midweight has more body and suits cold mid-winter days and riders who feel the cold. Lightweight is the better call if you run hot, ride mostly in spring, or like to build warmth with a separate midlayer.
Is it made from recycled material?
Yes. The fabric is 92% recycled polyester with 8% spandex for stretch, and the materials are produced to bluesign criteria.
Will it smell after a few days on the hill?
HeiQ Fresh is a silver-free odour control treatment designed to manage the smell synthetic knits can develop, so it holds up better across a multi-day trip than an untreated synthetic.
About Burton

Let customers speak for us
Why Buy from Twelve Board Store
Twelve Board Store has been riders selling to riders since 2013. We are not a generic retail chain — we are a specialist board sports retailer built around genuine product knowledge, real rider experience and the kind of after-sales support that only comes from a team that actually uses the gear they sell.
Every brand we stock, we ride. Every recommendation we make comes from real experience — on the mountain, in the park, on the street, and on the road. When you call us, you talk to someone who has been on a snowboard at Hotham last weekend or a skateboard in the carpark this morning. That is the difference between buying from Twelve and buying from a warehouse with a website.
We offer services that no online-only retailer can match. Our in-store workshop handles snowboard waxing and tuning, boot heat moulding, electric skateboard and e-bike repairs and assembly, and warranty support handled in-house rather than shipped offshore to a call centre. If something goes wrong with your gear, we fix it. If your boots don't fit, we sort it. If you ordered the wrong size, we swap it — no questions asked.
Our showroom at 435A Bridge Road Richmond stocks the full range across snowboards, bindings, boots, skateboards, longboards, electric skateboards, e-bikes, outerwear and accessories. We offer free shipping Australia-wide on orders over $89, AfterPay and Zip for flexible payment, and fast dispatch so your gear arrives when you need it.
Over a decade in business. More than 1,000 reviews. The most trusted specialist board store in Melbourne. If you need advice before you buy, call us on 03 9421 2293, visit us in-store, or contact us online — we'll get you sorted.
