Burton Men's Synthetic Lightweight Base Layer Crewneck 2027 | True Black
Light, Fast and Easy to Layer
The Burton Men's Synthetic Lightweight Base Layer Crewneck 2027 in True Black is the thin first layer that goes under everything. It moves sweat, dries fast and leaves room for a midlayer on cold days.
It's cut slim with four-way stretch, so it layers under a midlayer without bunching and moves when you do. HeiQ Smart Temp helps regulate body temperature as conditions change, and HeiQ Fresh tackles the smell synthetic knits are known for. Softlock seams sit flat against your skin, hidden thumbholes keep the cuffs in place under your gloves, and the True Black colourway finishes it off.
Best for: riders who run warm, spring sessions, and anyone wanting a thin synthetic base that sits under a midlayer on cold days.

Built for Australian Conditions
Lightweight is the layer that earns its keep in an Aussie season. On a mild day at Buller, Falls or Perisher it can go straight under your jacket and you won't overheat on the hike to the park or in the lift line. On a frosty first chair, add a fleece or insulated midlayer over the top and peel it off when the sun comes around. Come spring, when afternoons turn to slush, this weight is often all you need under a shell. For a Japan trip it works as the thin bottom layer in a stack, or as the spare you pack for warmer days and travel days.
Not for you if: you run cold or spend most of your days in deep winter conditions and want a thicker, warmer layer on its own. Browse our men's thermals and use the filters to find a heavier weight.

FAQs
How does the Burton Men's Synthetic Lightweight Base Layer Crewneck fit?
It's a slim fit with four-way stretch, so it sits close to the body without feeling tight and layers cleanly under a midlayer. Most riders stick with their usual Burton size. If you're between sizes, size down for a closer next-to-skin feel or up if you want a little more room. Call us on 03 9421 2293 or come into our Richmond showroom.
Is a lightweight base layer warm enough for Australian resorts?
On its own under a jacket it suits mild days and spring. On cold mid-winter days, treat it as the bottom layer and add a fleece or insulated midlayer. If you run cold most of the time, a midweight or merino blend layer will suit you better.
What does HeiQ actually do?
HeiQ Smart Temp is a finish that helps the fabric regulate body temperature as you heat up and cool down through the day. HeiQ Fresh is a silver-free odour control treatment that manages the smell synthetic knits can pick up after a few hard days.
Can I wear it for other sports?
Yes. It's a quick-drying, breathable, moisture-wicking synthetic top, so it also works for cold-weather hikes, runs or riding the bike to work in winter.
Is it covered by warranty?
Yes. Burton backs this base layer with its Lifetime Warranty, and as an authorised Burton dealer we can help you with any claim.
About Burton
Jake Burton Carpenter started Burton in 1977, and the brand has been driven by riders ever since. That same thinking runs through the layers that sit under your outerwear: fabric that moves with you, seams that stay out of the way, and a Lifetime Warranty behind it.

Let customers speak for us
Why Buy from Twelve Board Store
Twelve Board Store has been riders selling to riders since 2013. We are not a generic retail chain — we are a specialist board sports retailer built around genuine product knowledge, real rider experience and the kind of after-sales support that only comes from a team that actually uses the gear they sell.
Every brand we stock, we ride. Every recommendation we make comes from real experience — on the mountain, in the park, on the street, and on the road. When you call us, you talk to someone who has been on a snowboard at Hotham last weekend or a skateboard in the carpark this morning. That is the difference between buying from Twelve and buying from a warehouse with a website.
We offer services that no online-only retailer can match. Our in-store workshop handles snowboard waxing and tuning, boot heat moulding, electric skateboard and e-bike repairs and assembly, and warranty support handled in-house rather than shipped offshore to a call centre. If something goes wrong with your gear, we fix it. If your boots don't fit, we sort it. If you ordered the wrong size, we swap it — no questions asked.
Our showroom at 435A Bridge Road Richmond stocks the full range across snowboards, bindings, boots, skateboards, longboards, electric skateboards, e-bikes, outerwear and accessories. We offer free shipping Australia-wide on orders over $89, AfterPay and Zip for flexible payment, and fast dispatch so your gear arrives when you need it.
Over a decade in business. More than 1,000 reviews. The most trusted specialist board store in Melbourne. If you need advice before you buy, call us on 03 9421 2293, visit us in-store, or contact us online — we'll get you sorted.
