Burton Men's Merino Blend Midweight Base Layer Crew 2027 | True Black
Merino Warmth, Black on Black
The Burton Men's Merino Blend Midweight Base Layer Crew 2027 in True Black is the warmest base layer in Burton's range, built on a merino and TENCEL blend for natural warmth that breathes. It's for riders who want one dependable top for cold days and long trips.
The fabric is a 245 GSM merino interlock blending 57.6% merino wool with 38.4% TENCEL Lyocell and 4% spandex. You get the natural temperature regulation, breathability and odour resistance of merino, with TENCEL adding softness and stretch. It's a slim, four-way stretch cut with Softlock seams and thumbholes, shown here in True Black.
Best for: cold mornings and storm days, multi-day trips and Japan, and riders who want natural fibre warmth and odour resistance.

Built for Australian Conditions
This is the layer for cold mornings, storm days and long trips. On a bitter first chair at Hotham or a windy day on the Main Range it gives you natural warmth close to the skin, and the merino helps manage temperature when you warm up through the day. Because merino resists odour, it's a strong pick for a week in Japan or a multi-day trip where you'd rather pack fewer layers. On warm spring afternoons in Victoria and NSW it can run hot under a full jacket, so wear it with a shell and venting, or save it for the colder end of the season.
Not for you if: you run hot or mostly ride warm spring days and want something thinner and faster drying. Browse our men's thermals and use the filters to find a lighter synthetic weight.

FAQs
How does the Burton Men's Merino Blend Midweight Base Layer Crew fit?
It's a slim fit with four-way stretch, designed to sit close to the skin so the merino can do its job. Most riders take their usual Burton size. Call us on 03 9421 2293 or come into our Richmond showroom if you want to check the fit.
Is merino itchy?
This is a blend rather than pure wool. The TENCEL Lyocell adds a soft, smooth feel and the spandex adds stretch, so most riders find it comfortable straight against the skin. If you're very sensitive to wool, try it on in store first.
Why choose merino over synthetic?
Merino regulates temperature naturally, breathes well and resists odour, so you can wear it for several days on a trip. Burton also notes merino blend is warmer than similar-weight synthetics. Synthetic layers dry faster and tend to be tougher for everyday abuse.
How warm is it?
Burton gives it a warmth rating of 1.45 out of 5 on its base layer scale, which puts it in the midweight band. It's built for cold days and is best paired with a shell or midlayer when temperatures really drop.
Is it durable?
Burton builds it with a merino base and a highly durable synthetic exterior, plus double-needle stitching on the sleeves and hem, and backs it with a Lifetime Warranty.
About Burton
Jake Burton Carpenter started Burton in 1977, and the brand has been driven by riders ever since. That same thinking runs through the layers that sit under your outerwear: fabric that moves with you, seams that stay out of the way, and a Lifetime Warranty behind it.

Why Buy from Twelve Board Store
Twelve Board Store has been riders selling to riders since 2013. We are not a generic retail chain — we are a specialist board sports retailer built around genuine product knowledge, real rider experience and the kind of after-sales support that only comes from a team that actually uses the gear they sell.
Every brand we stock, we ride. Every recommendation we make comes from real experience — on the mountain, in the park, on the street, and on the road. When you call us, you talk to someone who has been on a snowboard at Hotham last weekend or a skateboard in the carpark this morning. That is the difference between buying from Twelve and buying from a warehouse with a website.
We offer services that no online-only retailer can match. Our in-store workshop handles snowboard waxing and tuning, boot heat moulding, electric skateboard and e-bike repairs and assembly, and warranty support handled in-house rather than shipped offshore to a call centre. If something goes wrong with your gear, we fix it. If your boots don't fit, we sort it. If you ordered the wrong size, we swap it — no questions asked.
Our showroom at 435A Bridge Road Richmond stocks the full range across snowboards, bindings, boots, skateboards, longboards, electric skateboards, e-bikes, outerwear and accessories. We offer free shipping Australia-wide on orders over $89, AfterPay and Zip for flexible payment, and fast dispatch so your gear arrives when you need it.
Over a decade in business. More than 1,000 reviews. The most trusted specialist board store in Melbourne. If you need advice before you buy, call us on 03 9421 2293, visit us in-store, or contact us online — we'll get you sorted.
