Bones Hardcore Bushings White | Soft 81a
Double action bushings. Soft 81a for lighter skaters and anyone who wants a loose, carvy turn.
Bones Hardcore Bushings are replacement street-truck bushings in White, in the soft 81a hardness. This set does both trucks and suits lighter skaters and anyone who wants a loose, carvy turn.
In a normal bushing only one side resists the turn. The Hardcore insert in the centre is chemically bonded to the urethane, so both sides of the bushing push back. That's why Bones calls them the first double action truck bushings: more responsive turns, a faster return to centre, and no break-in period.
Key Features
- Patented Double Action design: both sides of the bushing resist the turn
- Bonded Hardcore insert: less slop, faster return to centre
- High rebound urethane: lively and consistent
- No break-in: fit them, adjust and skate
- Soft 81a: lighter skaters and anyone who wants a loose, carvy turn

About Bones
Bones Bearings comes from George Powell, the engineer who co-founded Powell Peralta in 1978. In the early 1980s he went looking for a faster, tougher skateboard bearing and worked with a small Swiss manufacturer to build one for skating rather than for machinery. That bearing became Bones Swiss, and the thinking behind it became the Bones Skate Rated standard.
Today Bones Bearings is part of the Skate One family in Santa Barbara, California, alongside Powell Peralta and Bones Wheels. The range runs from everyday Reds through Super Reds, Big Balls and Race Reds up to ceramic and Swiss-made bearings, all built to Skate Rated clearances, tolerances, materials and lubricant. Riders choose Bones because they roll well, last, and are easy to clean and service.
FAQs
Who should run 81a Hardcore bushings?
Soft 81a suits lighter skaters and anyone who wants a loose, carvy turn. As a rough guide: under about 60kg, go soft (around 81a to 88a); 60 to 85kg, medium (around 90a to 92a); over 85kg or if you like tight, stable trucks, go hard (94a and up). Because the Hardcore insert adds resistance, many skaters can go a touch softer than usual.
What makes Hardcore bushings different?
The bonded Hardcore insert. It ties both sides of the bushing together, so the side that would normally bulge away from the kingpin also resists the turn. You get a snappier turn and quicker return to centre.
Will they fit my trucks?
They suit standard street trucks like Independent, Thunder, Venture and Mini Logo. They're made for standard to high trucks; on some low trucks the bushings can be too tall, so check with us if you ride lows.
How many are in the pack?
Enough for a full board. You get four bushings, a top and bottom for each truck, with cup washers.
Do they need breaking in?
No. Bones says there's no break-in period. Fit them, set your kingpin nut and skate.

Why Buy from Twelve Board Store
Twelve Board Store has been riders selling to riders since 2013. We are not a generic retail chain — we are a specialist board sports retailer built around genuine product knowledge, real rider experience and the kind of after-sales support that only comes from a team that actually uses the gear they sell.
Every brand we stock, we ride. Every recommendation we make comes from real experience — on the mountain, in the park, on the street, and on the road. When you call us, you talk to someone who has been on a snowboard at Hotham last weekend or a skateboard in the carpark this morning. That is the difference between buying from Twelve and buying from a warehouse with a website.
We offer services that no online-only retailer can match. Our in-store workshop handles snowboard waxing and tuning, boot heat moulding, electric skateboard and e-bike repairs and assembly, and warranty support handled in-house rather than shipped offshore to a call centre. If something goes wrong with your gear, we fix it. If your boots don't fit, we sort it. If you ordered the wrong size, we swap it — no questions asked.
Our showroom at 435A Bridge Road Richmond stocks the full range across snowboards, bindings, boots, skateboards, longboards, electric skateboards, e-bikes, outerwear and accessories. We offer free shipping Australia-wide on orders over $89, AfterPay and Zip for flexible payment, and fast dispatch so your gear arrives when you need it.
Over a decade in business. More than 1,000 reviews. The most trusted specialist board store in Melbourne. If you need advice before you buy, call us on 03 9421 2293, visit us in-store, or contact us online — we'll get you sorted.
